    New Parts Help

Hi guys I recently bought a new GPU (Gtx 1080 ti) and a new ultra wide 4k 120hz monitor and i was thinking maybe i need a new CPU I currently have an i7-4770 and i was thinking about getting an 8700k.

Now Im not great at computers, i can look at a benchmark and decide what i want but for example I dont know what i have to go with it.

If I were to get that CPU would my ms-7817 motherboard be inadequate? Also would I need to get a really good cooler for the CPU? I currently have a bog standard one.

if your board has a 4770 in it now, an 8700k won't work anyway, 4770 is socket LGA1150, 8700k is LGA1151, nevermind that the 4770 only works with DDR3 ram, and the 8700k DDR4 only.

In short, if you want the 8700k, you'll need at minimum a new motherboard and ram to make it work at all.
