I don't understand BG Honor

How do people get so much honor in BG's? I feel like I'm missing something.

No matter what I do, be it focus on damage or focus on actually doing the objective of the current map, I can't seem to get as much honor as other players in BG's.

I literally capped the horde flag 3 times in WSG one game and I was still below half of my faction in the 'honor gained' column.

1. How do I get more honor?
2. Why is capping flags not rewarded as much as it should be? I literally allowed our faction to win the game and I was basically punished for it while those fighting brainlessly in mid got all the honor.

If you're horde and comparing yourself to alliance then it's a waste of time as they get a passive 50% more honor earned in bgs.

The way Blizzard chose to distribute honor is completely idiotic. The thing that matters the most is honorable kills. So basically if you fight in mid and forget about the objectives or if you have a good enough group to graveyard camp you'll essentially get more honor. In fact, you don't even have to kill any one, heal anyone, or do much of anything. As long as you're near people who are killing, you will get HKs.

Keep in mind that the Honor Gained display has -never- taken into account the diminishing returns on HKs. So it will always be a bit higher than what the person actually earned. Sometimes, quite a bit higher than they actually earned.

Unless DR on HKs was removed and i missed it (might have, i took the back half of Cata and most of Mists off, so they may have removed that and i missed it.)

Try to do both, unless you are playing dh, or nobody is going for flag or capping shit, just go do objectives whilst killing people, in WSg i usually escort the carrier till enemy base, wait downstairs till he comes with the healer, in the time he gets the flag i jsut focus on them not getting ours, and i usually prefer to be the guy killing the EFC than defending, as it gives more honor

im not sure if it shows on the leaderboard but the ones getting way much honor might be players receiving their first bg of the day bonus
