2> He's incorrectly summarizing the FBI's justifications, which did not deny charges over 793(f) over issues of intent, as your author claims. Intent was relevant to other charges considered by the FBI, which is why Comey mentioned it. This is all detailed in the IG's report, here; https://www.justice.gov/file/1071991/download

Chapter 7, starting on p253, is what you're looking for. In particular, the way they describe "gross negligence" in how it is used in that particular charge is very much at odds with your author's contention. He's just flat-out wrong on the law. Now, maybe he just didn't grasp the details; he wrote that back in 2016, and so it's not like he'd read the new IG report that just came out, unless he's a time traveler; I'm not ascribing malice to him. He's just wrong.
If she wasn't given a recommendation for charges over the issue of "intent" over 793(f), what was, then, Comey's justification for no recommendation over that statute? What I think is quite clear from Mr. McCarthy is that Comey described Mrs. Clinton checking every box for violation, yet in the end recommended no charges citing "no intent".

I'm simply referring to Comey's announcement. If Comey's announcement and the IG report conflict, I'm not sure who to believe, but I certainly know which one had a material impact for Mrs. Clinton.

And the IG report is quite puzzling in it's regard to intent:

None of the emails contained clear classification markings as required
under Executive Order 13526 and its predecessor. Only three email
chains contained any classification markings of any kind. These email
chains had one or two paragraphs that were marked “(C)” for
“Confidential” but contained none of the other required markings, such
    as classification headers.
There was no evidence that the senders or former Secretary Clinton
believed or were aware at the time that the emails contained classified
    information.
The "C" marking, as far as I've read, is a very obvious indicator for those for whom it's relevant that the document is classified. In one email, Mrs. Clinton instructed a staffer, "Turn into nonpaper w no identifying heading and send nonsecure," but he failed to remove the "C".

Her explanation? She thought it was an alphabetized list, is what she said.

I get it, she was a presidential candidate and received a bit of special treatment and a lot of bending over backwards in order to keep the election moving forward, but I'm not going to pretend that anybody else, literally anybody else wouldn't have been charged.

I guess the report didn't say what he wanted it to say, so it must be a fake? I don't understand people.

Colin Powell wasn't charged for almost exactly the same thing. Republicans called it a witch hunt. You also left out the part that said Sec Clinton was in constant contact with State Dept officials and relied on their judgement for how to handle classified documents.

I shouldn't have even talked about it this much. I'm breaking a personal rule by even going this deep into politics again. I enjoy politics, but it has the unfortunate side effect of just really causing a mess these days. I appreciate you being polite.

It's always been a bit of a mess. Messes can be fun, though. Your way is definitely quieter, I'll give you that. That's why I'll post a bunch for 3-4 days and then disappear for 3 months.

It didn't used to. I really miss the days of Obama, truth be told. Not for his policies, but because it was a time before half the country's dreams were shattered in favor of a nightmare president, as it is seen. A worthy, prestigious, and groundbreaking president was shunted off to the side in favor of a circus clown with a baseball bat. And that this half of the country must coexist with people who would prefer a circus clown with a baseball bat over a prestigious and groundbreaking president (again, as it is seen), it's done a number on our discourse.

I don't understand how the president's goon's can believe still in a bunch of crazy conspiracies while their guy is in charge. Then again I don't think critical thinking is their strong suit.

Man who blocked traffic on Hoover Dam bridge wanted release of government report

A man stopped his armored truck on the bridge near the Hoover Dam, blocking traffic for hours.
(CNN)The armed man who for more than an hour blocked a highway near the Hoover Dam with an armored truck and held a sign that said "Release the OIG report" is in an Arizona jail accused of several felonies, police said Saturday.

Matthew Phillip Wright, 30, of Henderson, Nevada, is accused of terrorist acts, unlawful flight from law enforcement, carrying a weapon in the commission of a felony and misconduct involving weapons. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of blocking a highway.
"Release the OIG report" apparently refers to the US Justice Department's internal watchdog report on the department's handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe. The 568-page report was released this week, leaving Wright's message unclear.

Police said Wright had a rifle and handgun when he was taken into custody following a pursuit.
Authorities were called to the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge over the Colorado River just after noon on Friday when Wright allegedly parked across the southbound lanes. Both sides of US 93 were shut down for about 90 minutes.
Are you sure he's not from Florida? Sounds like Floridaman.

He was just using his constitutional rights to protest against President Clinton. Impeach her, the email scandal is the last straw!

It just boggles my mind how dense these people are.

Mueller is currently investigating actual conspiracies that actually happened and threatened the core values of the United States. But the only thing these nitwits are rallying against are insane, bullshit stories about gay frogs, airliners poisoning the skies, massive government- (sorry, Democrat-)sponsored porn rings under pizza joints, and now this.

What the fuck is wrong with these people?

I'm pretty sure it always was, depending on how much attention you paid and whose side you were on. I think it's just this social media crap. It's like cyber bullying, everyone seems to make the virtual world "real" and just escalate everything quickly beyond all reasonable discourse. Clickbait rules. My aunt is super-pro-Trump, but was also super-pro-Gore. I used to have to listen to her rants about dangling chads and stolen elections, now I get conspiracies via her Facebook. Luckily, it's easier to ignore the facebook feed, so no worries.

This guy, he obviously never learned to ignore his Facebook feed. At least no one was hurt, though I doubt prison will make him a more productive member of society.

Though, usually in these threads, I'll comment until the thread picks up steam. I replied to Endus on some other thread, and by the time my reply had posted, it had grown 3 pages, so I just deleted my response to avoid having to read any more.
