Now let's hear from an actual doctor, Peter Attia. I post these videos because I've seen them and I cosign the content in them. I don't know everything this guy has ever said at every phase of his career so if you want to challenge his authority, go nuts, you still aren't changing what he says in these two videos nor the inherent truth of the statements he makes in them. So here they are:
Joe Rogan - Why Obese People Can't Lose Weight (Edit: in conversation with Dr. Attia)
Peter Attia What if we're wrong about diabetes
Be transformed.
I recognize that you are a fool that says foolish things. The thing is you need to recognize it and become wiser and better than you are right now. And no, I didn't just insult you - I said something true to help you. That's actually generosity of spirit to bother to do it, empathy and compassion because I recognize that you just don't get it. For whatever reason, you have strong opinions about things you know very little about and it shows.
Earlier in this thread I mentioned that I occasionally make statements about the toxic nature of carbohydrates on these forums. I guess this post is in the way of that. The real danger in all those carbs is what happens in terms of blood glucose levels. The simple fact is that the nutritional information and advice we've been getting for approximately 40-70 years is dead fucking wrong. Another simple fact is that the people presenting with these precise problems, like metabolic syndrome, are treated with a standard of care that is also dead fucking wrong. That's an interesting double whammy that has caused the current epidemic of obesity.
The science is still poorly understood and some people have different problems. I am going out on a limb, that I am pretty sure is correct, in stating that toxic amounts of carbs, an amount the human body simply doesn't know how to process properly, is killing a lot of us. And yet the nutritional recommendation to eat around 225-325 grams of carbs every day persists. That's still the standard recommendation, right now, today. And when that recommendation completely fucks over someone and they present with Type 2 diabetes, the current standard of care is to give them insulin, metformin, and even more drugs. Those drugs will not only not help, except as a prophylactic in the case of a medical emergency, but will almost guarantee the impossibility of losing any weight and cause that person to instead to gain even more weight. Why? Because insulin is the hormone that causes fat storage in the human body. So yeah, someone does exactly as is recommended, things go wrong, and now they are on a downhill slope to disaster.
So yeah, you can kick the victim and feel superior if you want to. GG, on that. Punish the victim and try to make sure she feels bad. That anyone reading this thread feels bad about themselves for being even a little overweight. Fun fact: you don't have to be mean to others to feel better yourself.
I am just glad that people can still ignore haters and be happy because cortisol will kill you too. And like I said, people that live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks. And I think we all live in glass houses.
