    How do you endure leveling?

I know there are folks that enjoy the new “smoother” leveling system. I get that. I, however, absolutely hate it. I’ve leveled enough characters that the isn’t really novelty to it and it’s one of the things I hate the most in the game. Leveling in new content is fun and engaging. Doing the BC and WOTLK just isn’t for me. But I want the heritage armor so I’m doing it, or at least I’m trying.

How do you endure it? It’s driving me bonkers because it’s so BORING.

I love leveling. BUT, I set my mind to make it as immersive as possible. I don't just treat it like a task to do.

First - I use the Immersion addon. It really helps break up the walls of text so that you can read things the way they are meant to be said.
Second - I try to learn the lore of the area and NPCs. Understanding who the characters are that you are working with goes a long way with immersion imho
Third - I do NOT try to rush it. If I every get to the point where I feel like I'm trying to rush it, I always stop for second, and realize that I need to focus in the "now", and not the "future".
Fourth - I take may time by exploring nooks and crannies that look interesting, talking to NPCs that don't have quest markers on them, etc... There are some pretty funny ones that you run into that you might have never known about.

Of course, this may not work for others. I just like to take my time and enjoy all the work and details that were put into the game. Found some neat areas in random places too If I ever feel like I'm doing something that feels like a grind, or that I'm not enjoying - I just stop doing that particular activity. It's a game. It's not worth doing anything you don't like. imho - No in-game reward is worth doing content you don't enjoy. It really is just a game.

I'm not really sure. I do know I watch a streamer or two during the process (Ninja, Dr. Lupo stream Fortnite, which I suck at but I enjoy watching), watch video reviews (check out Deusdaecon Reviews on youtube) or bang some music. I just try to distract myself with other stuff as much as possible, and do content in WoW that doesn't take a ton of focus. /shrug

I never understood why people treat a game as a 2nd job. If you are NOT HAVING FUN with a VIDEO GAME, stop playing it. You say you leveled too many characters, then why are you complaining about leveling more? Did Blizzard point a gun to your head and forced you to level more alts? If you don't enjoy leveling, DON'T LEVEL NEW CAHRACTERS

Luckily I already have max levels for each class on ally and horde, otherwise I would probably have quit. I leveled a nightborne when they came out, with the new leveling changes and I absolutely HATED it. It was horrible and I feel terrible for anyone starting the game that wants to have a lot of alts. As for heritage armor, meh, definitely NOT worth doing the allied races just for that. There are far better transmogs in the game and you will likely not use the heritage mog long term.

Only in small batches. It's rare that I'll continue leveling after using up rested XP.

The only character that I've leveled recently is my lightforged, currently 93. Everything up to 70 just felt like a chore and I did most of 70+ by doing dailies/mining. Tournament/Ebon Blade till 85. Tillers / mining till 90. Did a few quests at level 90 to unlock the garrison (skipped the dark portal stuff) and got to 93 by mining and treasure finding. Currently just log in for a minute or two each day to clear the mine (4.2k exp per vein) and letting my rested XP grow. When it's full I'll only do treasures and mining for XP.

    I just... level.

It's a fundamental part of the game and honestly if people haven't really come to terms with it now, there is no hope for them. You just do it.

Make it interesting as you go. You don't have to mindlessly zerg through quests back to back to back in order to reach max level as soon as possible. Sit back and enjoy the experience maybe?

World PvP while you do it. Play on a PvP server.

    Oh wait--

I cheat. Any exploits or shortcuts I find I’ll use. From the Argus invasions to the Karazahn farm.

When I can’t cheat I’ll just get boosted through dungeons.

Watching YouTube split screen also helps.

Right now I'm rerolling a new main on a new server. The only motivation that I have is that it will be my new main.
Here's what helps me not blow my brains out: watching stuff on second monitor. Series, streams, youtube, porn if you have to. If all you do is focus on the lvling itself, it's gonna be a pain. This is a 14 years old game, even if they freshen the experience, it's nothing new, grab a quest, do boring stuff, turn in quest, never be challenged in any way, never required to use your brain.

So yeah, what makes me endure leveling is taking my mind off the leveling itself lol.

I get into a leveling zone/mindset. Depending on the class ill change the leveling path in case I want something different.

Sometimes you have to do something you don’t enjoy in order to do something you like. It’s the difference to working out so you can play a sport versus just working out. If you want to play a new class, you have to level it. If you’ve done it a few times before the novelty probably isn’t there anymore and you just want to get to the point you can do fun stuff. If you’re not going to pay for it, or can’t because your going after a specific reward (like a transmog) then the grind isn’t fun. I don’t think it’s that complicated.

I do some other shit at the same time. I don't ENJOY it, but I don't absolutely detest it either.

I generally watch streams or videos, preferably nothing to do with WoW (unless it's like an analysis video) as it makes me realize how boring what I'm doing is compared to what I could be doing in the game.

ill just make it a race and see how fast I can get 110

i just do one, maybe 2 lvls per day.
once im out of that shithole that is northrend/outland lvling, i'll start lvling normally.

lvl 1-60 isnt a problem, except for the long ass annoying dungeons coming up on 40+
60-80 is were the real problems begin, so i start doing what i mentioned above.

after 80, lvling becomes enjoable enough however to not slag around.

In vanilla, global chat was active. You must remember that what made vanilla wow so good was that it was actually a social setting FIRST and the game kinda existed to facilitate that and give people something to do while being social. Thats why broken specs and poor itemization didnt matter.

So in vanilla wow, you might log in at level 35 in Arathi Highlands and chat on the global channel for a few hours and while you are there you might knock out a bunch of quests and level 5 times.

I agree that modern leveling is boring because it puts leveling up front and social interaction is more limited and broken now.

On some private servers they have the old setup and theres plenty of global chat and leveling is quite enjoyable.

TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.

I'm about to level a new class for BfA and I don't even know if I'll make it tbh. But there's no fucking way I'm paying £50 for a boost.

I grab a pint then I grab another and then another. Then I’m max before I know it.

For leveling a Character from the previous level cap to the next (i.e. 100-110), I need to be in the zone. If I start questing and get bored in 30 minutes then I just give up... then one day the motivation kicks in (usually on a rainy day when the Kids aren't home) and I'll just grind through the levels. Usually after Flying's been unlocked.

For a new character however, I just cant do it anymore. I thought that content was behind me... then Allied races In this case, I have a second account with a dedicated booster (Druid) who just drags my alts through Dungeons to level 90. I then do WOD bonus objectives/gathering to get to 100.

In terms of /played time it's quite quick, in terms of IRL time, it's weeks if not months due to instance lockouts and general motivation.

Well, you could probably just sell some stuff on ebay or Craiglist that you don't use anymore, and use that money to buy a boost. If you really hate leveling that much - you don't have to do it. There is really no reason to level if you truly despise it, but really really really want the carrot at the end of that stick. Doing 30-40 hours of something you dislike.....that is not very healthy. I couldn't imagine spending that much time doing something I don't like. Yikes!

I only lvl up via bgs now (with both pvp trinkets) and then use the fast lvl up from kara, draenor treasure hunting and legion invasions. Hope they dont change them on bfa
