Then comes BfA and they can now raise ships from the dephs of the ocean and fly them into battle with arcane cannons at the ready. And to top it off the most powerful mages tend to be Alliance aligned. I wouldn't mind if the Vindicar had shown up, cleansed the Blight and blew up the walls. It would actually make sense.

I mean, Thrall had what, the second half of Cata in the spotlight and we still don't hear the end of Green Jesus whenever he's brought up. Yet these damn overpowered human mages are running around for 2 expansion doing all kinds of incredible things and no one bats an eye.

Kadghar and the Kirin Tor being at the forefront for two whole expansions was tiring enough. I don't want another expansion of another overpowered human mage turning the tide on the current events with a fantastic display of power that no other class seems to be able to pull off.
Most of what Khadgar did was in the opening scenario. We didn't see much of him outside of the legendary ring quests. And he didn't ultimately thwart Gul'dan in WOD. Not by himself anyway. Sure we storm Hellfire Citadel and slay Archimonde, but Gul'dan ultimately escapes, and Khadgar fails to stop Gul'dan in the Tomb of Sargeras plot, and he's far from the only character involved in the Nighthold as well where Gul'dan fainally IS thwarted. Gul'dan gets a leg up over Khadgar more than once during WOD and leading into Legion.

one who can shift between incorporeal and corporeal forms whenever she wants, she just prefers being corporeal as noted in the Arthas book.

We're not saying Jaina being skilled enough in magic to do what she did with her father's flagship is out of character. I mean, she's almost fifty I'd hope she could levitate an object and use magic missile.

We're saying Jaina showing up just in time to save literally every alliance soldier in existence from the plague is a deus ex machina. There was no way out of Sylvanas' trap until Jaina magically (literally and figuratively) shows up to save the day. It's extremely shoddy writing. But then BFA as a whole has been the worst writing in WoW's history so we shouldn't be surprised.

Because she can transform into banshee and banshees are you know ghosts. And those tend to float.

Hes about the same age as Jaina who is in her late 30's, hes slightly older so early to mid 40's.

Well that's just dumb. More stuff they should have referenced better ingame I guess, but that's hardly flight.

It seems like something she could have used if she were... Oh, I don't know. Fighting some antlered demigod on his home turf?

No, that's not a Deus ex Machina, since Jaina's arrival wasn't unexpected for the player. Nor was her having that ship, for that matter. Or that magic can be used to negate the plague, that's been show more than once before already.

Really, it wasn't unexpected? could have fooled me... seeing as not once they mention Jaina being on her way or anything... last time we saw her she raised her father's ship, the logical reason for that would have been to take it back home to Kul'Tiras not to attack UC with it...

    it literally is though

it's not like jaina coming is mentioned even once during the events.

she just shows up out of nowhere at the very last second to save everyone.

    that's a deus ex machina

This has been a trend since Legion. Because the PC has been portrayed as so powerful that major lore characters need a boost to stay ahead of them.

This is why Turalyon isn't just a plain-old Paladin but Lightforged and a veteran of a 1000 year war.

And why Alleria isn't just a skilled archer but conduit for the Void

Same can even be said for Magni who is no longer just a Dwarf Mountain King but now made of diamonds.

So yeah, expect a lot more power creep in the future.

This could be a cool theory of Blizzard wants to expand on it.

She ragdolls Malfurion around in the book too. Just write it down as consistent failure to show stuff in game and put it in a book instead.

they're not forms, she is a banshee inside a physical body.
to fly she needs to leave the body behind in her true spectral form.

Banshee form was on cooldown then, duh! :3

Sylvanas has the same problem a lot of DPS have, she blows her flashy cooldowns on trash mobs, and when the boss crops up... :P

Uh no? That was never stated in the Arthas book, and it's beyond obvious she didn't do that in the BFA cinematic or in the lordaeron cutscene.

It says nothing of leaving her body behind, simply that she enjoys being physical more than taking on a ghost form. She's not a normal Banshee.

Is there an actual quest-chain in game, which shows this?
May the lore be great and the stories interesting. A game without a story, is a game without a soul. Value the lore and it will reward you with fun!

Don't let yourself be satisfied with what you expect and what you seem as obvious. Ask for something good, surprising and better. Your own standards ends up being other peoples standard.
