    capture of Zul & Talanji

so the Horde intro to BfA starts with Stormwind Stockades scenario (alliterative appeal included), all well and good from a gameplay point of view, it's an enjoyable run through the dungeon and city. storywise though it just feels tacked on. it's implied that we've been sent to rescue Saurfang but we soon discover that he's neither willing to come with us nor our target anyway, we're here for the trolls...
wait, what trolls? how does Sylvanas know about these trolls being captured? how DID they get captured?

when we eventually 'escort' Talanji home all we hear is how she went looking for the Horde. so how exactly did she end up captured by the Alliance? she was travelling by ship so would have presumably been going to Orgrimmar or Silvermoon, doesn't seem likely she'd run into a strong enough force to capture them, especially with her personal predictive prophety person

everything about it just feels like she was originally supposed to show up in Orgrimmar asking for our help but Blizzard decided it just wasn't interesting enough and threw her in the Stockade. yes, that would certainly have been more interesting... if there'd actually been any story to it at all. other than a throwaway line by the King about rescuing his daughter (something nobody else seems to comment on at all) which seems scribbled onto the end of the dialogue, we may as well have just met her on the beach in Durotar, in a holiday retreat on Argus or at Silly Fuss come to see what the big sword was all about

Given Blizzard's recent writing of Alliance intelligence agencies, it's likely the entire Dazar'alor pyramid is made out of SI:7 agents in disguise, possibly the entire Zandalar island--maybe Talanji's boat as well.

While this is veering into headcanon, I can see Zul purposefully declining to tell her about the risk of capture or even that Alliance are coming, because he doesn't need to be physically present for his conspiracy to spread further while without Talanji Rastakhan is reliant on a Zanchuli Council that is majority Zul-controlled.

I assume they were simply captured on the high seas en route to Bladefist Bay. They just had the misfortune to encounter an Alliance ship, or possibly Zul arranged a capture to scuttle Talanji's plans.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
