It's okay to be childish.
While there is ton of garbage kiddy quests, you could also look at the benjin quest as a sort of zoo keeper, and the point was not them falling in love, the two wanted them to mate (aka fuck) in order to save those two from extinction. You also find out that she isn't having any because her last batch of eggs got eaten by some wasp or serpent monster, while benjin is a limp prick male that ddin't do shit.
The shrinking part was wow being dumb and quest designers being incapable of doing side quest that don't involve some dank memes and lame jokes.
On the other side, we have Drustvar, with Pig faced people, gore, witches, sacrifices, people that make sausages out from transformed humans..... need to go on?
Try the Alliance questline on Drustvar if you think this game is too childish.
I do. And to be honest if you had not written that you did not like MoP as well, I would have assumed it.
First of all: Not everything has to be dark and gritty. Quests like this are usually used as comic relief (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comic_relief)
You may not like it, that is fine, but most people do.
That being said: You do not sound like an adult yourself. I do not want to attack you or anything, but your writing and some of your post make you sound more like a angsty teenager who things he is an adult now because he just turned 19. I am pretty sure you are older than that tho (account creation 2007!) so let me just give you one advice: Relax. Even if you are 30+, not everything has to be dark and bloody ;-)
If I wanted to play an adult game, I'd do my own taxes.
I honestly don't like that kind of nonsense either, but the fact is the game's always had those elements. Every expansion's had some silly things mixed in, so if you've truly played since classic, this shouldn't be any sort of surprise to you. People saying this is the darkest it's ever been are equally full of it though.
Escorting robot chickens, making love potions (both in vanilla) and digging through poop in literally EVERY expansion is fine, but frogs and turtles are TOO much! Stop crying.
And to answer your stupid question, lots of people enjoy these quests. Just because you're trying to live life as an edgy edgerton with your I-wish-I-was-a-badass Korn signature (lol), doesn't mean everyone else is.
Appreciate your time with friends and family while they're here. Don't wait until they're gone to tell them what they mean to you.
Korn is my favourite band.
I'm 35.
Mists of Pandaria is my third favourite expansion.
I love Jethro Tull.
I make an amazing cheesecake.
I adore local history regarding the disused railway line.
I play games for fun.
I hope to be an amazing dad one day.
I like to have fun because it is fun.
The adults that are not stuck up enough to not care about what is perceived as "childish" and what is perceived as "mature"
WoW has always been permeated with light humor, puns, pop culture references, and overall not taking itself too seriously. I mean, just this list invalidates any idea that it's more childish than it used to be:

It's true that graphics have become more vibrant and cartoony, but apart from that, not that much has changed. To be fair I have to admit at first I also was a little taken back when MoP was announced. But after actually playing it, it was one of my favorite expansions, and quite refreshing to have some bits that are cheery and goofy.
And just like MoP, I'm quite enjoying BfA, especially after the edgyness overload of Legion.

We're playing a game. In a game things can be childish because it isn't real... and it's fun. The tortollan's are quite cool imo.
@Strawberry So are you ever gonna come back and try to salvage your argument or have you given up?
Exactly! Vanilla had loads of silly stuff.
In fact, the whole game oozes of silly things. Just look at the graphics, the fact that you can play as a cow (!), all the collect-turds-quests (and the outhouses), the Mage spell Polymorph (yep, that sheep is funny) - I could go on and on.
You sound like someone trying too hard to be an adult. It's okay, a lot of people went through that phase.
WoW is a goofy and over-the-top game. If you were expecting serious story then you should've left...well, from the beginning. Even as early as the RTS games the games were ridiculous.
A lot of people in this thread on their high horses pretending that anyone that wants substance in their game with adult themes and things to think about is just someone trying to be edgy.
The problem with the vast majority of the less serious side of WoW is that it's badly done. Some of it can be entertaining (the quest helping the Tortolan ride the horse in the Norwington Estate comes to mind) but most of it is actually childish stuff of no worth or comedic value. Would be interested to see how many people actually liked the toliet quest in Grizzly Hills, for example.
Funny, the only type of people I'd know who'd complain about this stuff, are 13-15 year olds, trying to act tough and edgy. No reasonable adult would give even the tiniest of shits regarding this... But then again the KoRn image perfectly fits the "edgy teen"-theme you are going for - so kudos on that!
Amazing sig, done by mighty Lokann
