Let’s start? It’s been since the 90s, with an impeachment, and you have not stopped. Trump brought Paula Jones to his debates with Hillary Clinton... not even Bill. WTF do you mean start?
Because the man involved is to hold the highest judicial seat in the country? How about anyone on here tell me exactly why the fbi is going to investigate a local crime that happened 36 years ago.
No, because places like Fox News would start releasing her parents records. This is not against a federal employee who has already passed 6 background checks, this is against a 20 something college student. That does not fall under the fbi's jurisdiction. Why has she not gone to local law enforcement? Oh, because they would laugh at the case and say there is no way they can charge anyone.
How the fuck does this help her?I also like how the media is saying this woman is making a sacrifice, when in reality she is becoming a democrat/media darling. She is an admitted democrat radical and knows full well that coming forward only helps her. This whole thing is a charade.

In 20 years... when this sort of shit happens again, then we can be outraged about Kavanaugh.

Mind linking it? I want to see if it reconciles the following points:
1 x Does the accusation carry any sort of judicial punishment?
2 x Even if there is 100% proof that he did this and a lot worse, but all outside timing to file charges... other than public opinion and fear of not being voted back in... would anything stop his selection, if every GOP member of Congress chose to vote to appoint him?

Cool... but, have you read anything about the question I asked from anyone? Because, as far as I can tell... this accusation and every single possible outcome from it, doesn’t actually stop republicans from electing him. Is this correct? Because, if it is correct... and GOP is sure these are all just fake nonsense created by democrats... why are they bothering to justify voting with anything?

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but Senate Republicans want to treat this accusation seriously, as they should, so they delayed the vote in order to give Ford a chance to testify, and to give Kavanaugh a chance to respond. If this accusation has merit, testimony under oath is a great first step. Especially since the FBI seems, according to sources, unwilling to investigate due to jurisdiction and statute of limitation concerns.
If Ford refuses to testify, and the FBI declines to investigate, I anticipate a vote sometime soon. If she does testify, we can hear what she has to say under oath, and Kavanaugh's response. If all Ford has to say is the same information we've already heard, and Kavanaugh responds with the same blanket, unequivocal denial, I don't see any reason to deny him the appointment.
We need something more than what's been given. These accusations could absolutely be true, but we can't possibly know that with the limited information we have.
I don't think you realize how significant this is. What, was she planning to sink his SCOTUS nomination 5-6 years ago just in case it ever came up because he turned her down in highschool? She thought she could totally go public with long seeded allegations like this to be met with the same kind of harassment, skepticism, and humiliation that Anita Hill went through because it would be...uh...fun? Because she didn't already have a pretty successful career and life and would gain little, even if she got "rewarded" (not the exact word, but the idea behind it) as well as Anita Hill was according to another poster?
This is a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the last. I think we can afford to entertain a serious allegation like this, even if it's unlikely, and slightly delay it just in case we accidentally put an attempted rapist (if true) into one of the most powerful positions in the USA.
Can you link what you mean? Because as far as I am aware, the FBI investigation was not in regards to any charges, just backing her word. Meaning that neither jurisdiction or any statute of limitations is applicable.
As you said... this was a choice that GOP is making, not one that is being forced upon them... even judicially... correct?
See... this is exactly what I am saying above. The most this will be is a he said, she said, at the confirmation hearings. Republicans can choose to ignore it? This doesn’t actually force their hand in any way, outside public perception? If Ford refuses to testify, and the FBI declines to investigate, I anticipate a vote sometime soon. If she does testify, we can hear what she has to say under oath, and Kavanaugh's response. If all Ford has to say is the same information we've already heard, and Kavanaugh responds with the same blanket, unequivocal denial, I don't see any reason to deny him the appointment.
To do what?We need something more than what's been given. These accusations could absolutely be true, but we can't possibly know that with the limited information we have.

Something that GOP is free to ignore, due to their majorities. The only issue for GOP is public opinion. If GOP think that the public agrees with their review of this being nothing, they have nothing to lose in appointing him. Which should highlight why the argument by Kavanaugh supporters isn’t to just tell GOP to ignore it and move on... it’s red herrings... it’s a DNC conspiracy... she is out to gain something... look at her parents records... None of it is necessary. Don’t attack her or create conspiracy theories... demand GOP vote him in. Unless, there is something here that the public might not like... and carry to the voting booth.

They can do it regardless... this is a puppet show, leading to the inevitable conclusion.

There wasn't much public support for him to begin with, polling before these allegations were made public had already turned plurality negative.
Just remember this shit when you vote and vote every chance you have.

Just solidifies that the only reason the vote has been withheld, is them betting that enough people will fall for completely irrelevant crap like statute of limitations or conspiracy theories.

It's hard to disprove simply because the accusation is almost four decades old and contain no specifics that could be used to mount a defense. If she could even give him a week timeline, he might be able to dig up where he was with evidence to exonerate himself. But since it's a 3-month time span at an unspecified location at an unspecified time, that makes it pretty difficult.
Even if he could verify where he was for a majority of the days and nights in that time frame, his defense would only work if he could document and prove every single day and every single night where he was for three months in 1982.

They don't give a damn about public opinion on Kavanaugh specifically, they know the "We got 2 conservative SCOTUS judges" message, even if one of them isn't popular, will sell well for the midterms and it will really be their biggest "achievement" of the past 2 years given the disastrous public opinion polling on the tax cut and their joke of an attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare.
They don't want to have the optics that they're railroading him through without treating the allegations with at least a certain level of seriousness/credibility since they still have some wiggle room (they have until the end of the year to confirm him, new Senators aren't sworn in until next year) to burn a few days or a week on this. Because the damage this could do to the opinion of the Republican party with women, a group which IIRC they're struggling maintaining as of late.
I may be overly cynical about the GOP here, but hot damn if the past few years haven't utterly demolished any remaining respect I had for the party even after the bullshit that was their behavior during the Obama administration.
She had over 30 years to report this incident to local police/authorities/the FBI or actually have someone investigate to see if there was a crime committed.
I'm not saying I don't believe her, but perhaps she was mis-remembering the details. memories tend to get mixed up 30 years later. Perhaps this Judge was the one who mishandled her and Kavanaugh watched? or maybe both Judge and Kavanaugh were downstairs while two other people harassed her and she simply got their names confused or couldnt remember anyone aside from Kavanaugh or Judge?
Regardless, she is being given a chance to testify by the republicans. It's sad that democrats waited until the last minute to bother mentioning this at all or we might have had more time for a thorough investigation. You can think Feinstein and that other California senator for not bothering to investigate these claims quietly on their own and instead turning this case into partisan hackery for political points. really shows where the dens priorities are.
sounds like something you aren't even considering either. You've already made up your mind and even without evidence you already believe he is guilty. what a shock.
her lawyer is already stating she doesn't have to prove anything. Do you realise how stupid that sounds? the burden of proof is supposed to lie with the accuser, not the accused. If we can start handing out justice just by he said she said allegations we might as well dissolve all courts right now and go straight to Judge Dredd style executions and punishment.
Wasn't this exact argument around like five pages ago?
There really are only a few circular arguments going about here, cycling through.
1) Why did she/the Democrats come around only now? - Because she did not want the harrassment/ripping open old wounds, hoping the man would be disqualified from one of the highest offices in the country in some other way.
2) How can you defend against the allegation? - How can you want to confirm someone who might have done that for one of the highest....?
So, basically the exact same argument we keep having every single time there is a sexual misconduct allegation (about someone that people for one reason or another like). And the only answer I can give is that it is a complex issue, which we as a society have kicked down the road for so long that we are ill-equipped to actually handle it. On the other hand, this is SCOTUS, so the confirmation hearings etc on him should be as thorough as possibly be. Denying him on principle is just as partisan as pushing him through with big open questions like this. As long as that is not accepted, this whole topic is completely meaningless.
