Of course, it probably wouldn't be if he was employed and had access to Blizzard's source.

But I don't think he's able to apply and relocate to Austin, so this "Blizz please hire him" isn't very helpful.
Having been a member of the dev team on one of wows most popular addons in the past, I can assure you that there is not a single addon that comes remotely close to a fulltime job.

Maybe if you contributed something to the community besides hyperbolic vitriol, people would be inclined to lend a helping hand.
I've helped newbies and random people on my server with gold to buy mounts and free dungeon runs since pre-bc. I have people to this day whisper me how are you and hey i remember you and i'm like who the fuck are you and they tell me about how i ran them and their friends in multiple dungeons once i'm like ok great.

Maybe if you assumed less and asked more you'd sound less like a *choose your expletive here*.

He acts as a carer for a family member on top of developing DBM iirc, pretty sure he wouldn't be able to do that unless they hired him to work from home.

Also OP, they notice us? My hydro company is charging me triple my consumption for 4 months ever since they installed a new broken meter downstairs which they refuse to fix or replace. If I make a post about how I pay 200$ in summer for electricity whilst I don't even have AC, will they notice me too?

How about the people whose valid and respectful complaint threads get deleted on the forums every day, do they get noticed too?
Maybe if you read his statement yourself you'd have seen that the biggest reason for him stepping down from actual Mythic raiding (which allows him to personally test his addon changes) is that his PC can no longer handle it and that he can't afford to buy a new one. His Patreon page and donations already covered for him to have his teeth taken care of. Maybe if you also considered that he's been, probably, the single biggest contributor to the raiding community in the history of WoW you'd realize there's some distance between you and him in the eyes of the WoW team.

So what are we lauding then? A PR stunt for a public figure who will surely mention this gesture? Will they make this gesture to every important modder for WoW who suffers from a condition? Will they make it for people who made WoW more popular?

    It's a fucking stunt.

The OP wants us to go easy on blizzard because they dropped a drop a water out of their pockets specifically to make them look better in a time when they look like shit in the eyes of many players. It's the oldest marketing trick in the book.

    Appeal to the heartstring.

Wow look at all these self entitled dogshit people on these forums getting triggered because it wasnt them getting a new PC and screaming 'PR' stunt. State of game is crap yes but using that as ammo is kinda desperate dont ya think?.

Good on DBM guy, blizzard and MSI. A little bit of faith goes a long way.

If Blizz was a mom and pop shop - this would be cool. But, Blizz is a billion dollar company that has been using this guy and his mod like it was part of the game. This is pathetic - WoW would likely have much less players w/o DBM, or Blizz would've had to do something and create a similar tool. Shame, they should've sent this dude a million dollar check and officially made DBM part of WoW.

When it's an addon that literally lets people "play" wow that would be standing in fire start to finish. This is not just an addon. This is THE addon.

I think you are overestimating the number of subscribers in WOW. Also, about half the subs are from China where the cost is far cheaper to play and they don't pay for expansions. It probably was a PR stunt, but at least somebody in need received help.

The letter looks a bit suspect. The one line starts "MSI and we want to thank you for all the hard work..." doesn't hit the ear right. It should be "MSI and us the Warcraft team want to thank you for all the hard work..." Wouldn't they check it for grammar before sending it?

Leave it to the disgusting WoW community to try and frame this as some sort of selfish stunt.

Blizzard and MSI did a nice thing for a struggling player who has dedicated a massive amount of time maintaining one of the most popular WoW addons, an addon that has no doubt changed the way Blizzard developers themselves have designed encounters. That is where the story should end, and good on Blizzard for supporting its community.

Yes I do, it's why I used it... duh.

You need to step away from whatever drugs you are on dude and calm down. Even if it was a PR thing or not it's still a nice gesture. Can you at least admit that, or has hatred claimed you like a Sith Lord.

The WoW community (or to an extent the MMO-Champion community) certainly is becoming one of the most vile and disgusting communities I have ever known. And I am a part of many types of communities online, including a knitting community :P

Ironic that an act that highlights the best in the gaming society brings out the lowest dregs in the same society too, as evidenced by this thread. Only on MMOC *sigh*...

Sadly not only on MMO-C, also Reddit and other sites.

Quite petty that people have a hate boner for the company, even though they did something good for someone, they can't see that without something bad behind it.

Or maybe because I am so sick and tired of people only being able to find the bad stories that one needs that god damn drop to at least have something nice to read? I get it, you don't like the company because they didn't pamper to whatever thing one might've raged for.

I know there is mistakes with the addon, I am not defending that, I am defending the fact that people can't even stand seeing good things happen because they are so clouded on the fumes of post-tantrum.

True. Still bad though. I heard that he was mentioning getting some vile comments PM'd too.

People like you are the problem here. Always looking for an angle, someway to make a company look bad for doing something nice. No doubt you would be the first to pile on if someone bought up that Blizzard did nothing to help.

You're not being cynical, you're being a dick

You're welcome. And of course, some are angry, and they have a right to be so. Just, anger isn't an infection, not every post has to be about raging anger.

Nono, but theres so much negativity on this forum its starting to even annoy me. Im seriously thinking about just stopping reading anything at all on this site cause I have to scroll through so much toxic stuff before I find something meaningful to read.

Constructive critisism is something else, but thats not whats going here on this site :P
