Every single projection I've seen has China fighting a defensive war shortly after us naval assets secure the seas and air off the coast. The rest is grinding down their air defenses and then they are largely helpless. If you are basing your thoughts on the size of their military then think again because once someone controls the air above then they can kill you at will in great numbers.

Gotta remember that China has 23% of all rare earth minerals that are used in modern technologies, if China says they'll put heavy tariffs when they get exported to the USA, the USA will be brought to it's knees pretty fast because it could have enough effect to bankrupt the entire silicon valley, luckily China isn't going that route as it could harm themselves in the long run if the silicon valley somehow finds a way to ignore rare earth minerals.

Rare earth minerals aren't actually rare at all. Some are as common as copper. It's the process of refining them and China's undercutting that made it unprofitable/undesirable to mine them locally. The US use to be the top for these until China entered the market in the 90's. If China plays games it'll be just like shale oil when the price rises to the point that it is economically viable to again process these locally expect the mine(s) to reopen in the US. Also recently Japan has discovered huge deposits of rare earth minerals that could give China a run for it's money soon as top producer.
