With all of this going on, if the FBI came out with something unfavorable to them and they ignored it and went ahead anyways, they could kiss the Senate goodbye this November as well with the Republicans knowing they are screwed for the next few cycles.

Their only option if they went that route was to try and bury the FBI results and lie about them hoping they didn't leak out. And then, if it leaked out revealing that lie, holy hell.
