The problem with your argument is that nothing Acosta did could be construed as "being an asshole". He was doing his job. That's it. His job does not include subservience to the will of the POTUS.

But Acosta has never asked a question, in his entire life, that lead to more knowledge being known, that he can then disseminate on his network. This thing that Acosta has never done, even one time, in his entire life, is called "Journalism". The goal of "journalism" is to find out what is really going on, and give those facts to the public, for a fee.

Acosta thinks his job is to be a full time troll to Trump and his press secretary. Amusing as it may be at times, and believe me, it is pretty god damn funny at times, this is not the actual job that he was given the press pass to do.

Therefore, I think just doing away with Jim Acosta is warranted. And let's face it, there is NOTHING Acosta wants more, than to be a pundit on his network. This will give him a lot of fame, that he can use to get that gig. At least, for a short time he can get that gig, before the viewers realize he doesn't know anything, and has nothing to add to any conversation.
