I don't think changing your name is a very good approach to "avoid consequences", since your posting history remains the same and you won't be removed from ignore lists.

I've changed my name from Rorcanna to SensationalBanana to my current, not to "avoid consequences" (lol, what consequences?) but because I was trying to find a better username, not tied to WoW.

If people dawi insist on keeping grudges for a decade - then why not change your username.

I'm running the same username and WoW character name since 2005 ... because unlike places like Reddit, people dawi in the WoW community don't have good enough memories to keep a grudge

on topic - got this account after making a mistake of registering with a *@*.ru email and apparently they are illegitimate and aren't covered by "recover password" feature. Wanted to change nickname to something more sensible but think that people will think exactly what OP thinks because of my post history and since i'm that insecure and care about what others think about me i'm not changing name

My guess is that they just looked at their banlists and perma'd the top ones. Genn seemed to post well most of the time to me, but he was also banned a ton. I never quite figured out why.
