I got banned from here long ago - so I made a second account. It only lasted about 1-2 days before I guess my IP address gave away that I was really a banned user and the second account got banned and I got in a little more trouble for it.

This site has gotten about 100 times better with bans and infractions.

on topic - got this account after making a mistake of registering with a *@*.ru email and apparently they are illegitimate and aren't covered by "recover password" feature. Wanted to change nickname to something more sensible but think that people will think exactly what OP thinks because of my post history and since i'm that insecure and care about what others think about me i'm not changing name

My guess is that they just looked at their banlists and perma'd the top ones. Genn seemed to post well most of the time to me, but he was also banned a ton. I never quite figured out why.

Perma for the alt and some more infractions to the original, maybe. A lot of the regularly banned nicks use sockpuppets which are often banned right away, but they tend to come back on their mains eventually.

nah. a number of my infractions are for ban evasion.

perma bans are only if you reach some arbitrary number of infraction points or do something super bad like dox some one.
