Kevin Hart was due to host the Oscars until someone went and dug through his old tweets. He said some stuff in the past, some of that some stuff is also in his comedy specials, but anyway he lost his Oscar job.

Now if you've on the internet long enough you know when someone gets in trouble for something they said or do there are those who can't wait to defend them. Espcially if is something that was said in the past. The first excuses then to be 'well it was a joke, they said it x years ago, taken out of context'.

But as I look around the Internet I see almost none of this for Kevin Hart. Here we have a comdian who tweeted some stuff almost 10 years ago and the free speech brigade is nowhere to be found. What makes what Kevin said different from say a Roseanne, a Donald Sterling, a Charlie Sheen, a Mel Gibson, a Donald Trump. Kevin even addressed his old material in the past before getting fired. I mean clearly the PC crowd is being too harsh on Hart like the others right?

Considering the comments he made were already apologised for years ago and he had since been a pretty decent guy, this was just another case of someone actively searching for something to be upset about (or because they hate Kevin Hart--for whatever reason).

The problem is we've already all been through this shit so many times the past year, the lastest with pedophile-supporter Mike "Thernovich" Cernovich successfully lobbying to get James Gunn removed as director for Guardians 3 because of tasteless jokes he made nearly a decade ago, that people are just giving up on trying to get any sense hammered through. It's the Trump effect: make people deal with complete and utter nonsense on a daily basis and eventually they'll stop fighting so much because it's just fucking exhausting.

Kevin Hart was given an ultimatum by the Academy to apologise for something he had already apologised for and he refused and, showing some class, voluntarily backed out to keep the drama from overshadowing the event. Not much for anyone else to do apart from boycotting the show--which most people do anyway, probably.

I find it very ironic that the same people attacking Kevin Hart are the exact same people who defended James Gunn or whatever his name was. I hope Kevin Hart stands by his jokes and doesn't give in to social media rage mob mentality.

Unfortunately I can't. I remember it happening because it was before a movie or show he was in a few years back, but my Google-fu is not good enough to cut through all of the current events updates to get to articles about similar incidents from years ago...particularly when a comedian apologising for their material wasn't particularly newsworthy then. I'm also not going to spend my entire Sunday trying when people have already pretty much formed their opinion on it anyway and generally just hand-wave when presented hard evidence. If I happen to come across it I'll post it for sure.
