As of right now, the way for hunters to be able to tame Crawgs and Blood Ticks is by hearthing away mid-fight in a heroic Zul encounter. He must be engaged, but die after you've hearthed.

This must be bugged. Quite sure if you do something special in the zul encounter(except hearthstoning) will also give you the tome after the kill - just wasn't discovered yet.

Doesn't really matter, it's a confirmed bugged that probably won't get fixed til wed. but will annoy pugs until it does. If you're a hunter, don't expect a heroic uldir invite for awhile.

If this is a bug, it's a dead giveaway for what you need to do to get the tome the intended way.

The tome is tied to a negative condition with the Zul fight - you are awarded the tome if the boss dies after you did not meet a certain condition. The condition is probably taking damage from a certain ability or dealing damage to adds. There are only a few things it could possibly be. One is corrupted blood, if aspect of the turtle blocks the first application.

I am sure the tome was meant to drop with Zul after doing some questline/events or just a rare drop for hunters but the rng chances screwed the whole thing

Well, you need the book item to be able to tame crawgs at all.

There are theories that if hunters don't attack the crawgs at all in Zul's fight, the book would drop. But, it's just a theory at the moment because it's so buggy.

honestly this seems tame compared to what the secret finders go through. who in their right mind would think to buy the talisman of treasure tracking and clear halls of origination just to be met with a giant confusing puzzle.
