I don't ignore many people, but that Katie N girl obviously can't think logically and isn't worth arguing with.
What is someone going to do with it when they already have billions? They don't need it for anything.

They are not the same.
It's like stupidity has become a defense mechanism of our species to prevent our standard of living getting too high.
Scientists: We can END HORRIBLE DISEASES ENTIRELY! We just need to make sure you vaccinate your children.
Group of morons: Never! Having our children die slowly and painfully sounds much better!
Scientists: We can END WORLD HUNGER ENTIRELY! By genetically modifying this food for increased yield and reduced disease-
Group of morons: Did you say "genetics"? I don't know what that means but it sounds toxic!!
We can end it in this very moment, with what we have today. There's more than enough food production on the planet for everyone. It's a lack of political will to do it that's the reason for it. GMO wouldn't do anything to end it, we'd still have the lack of political will.
Non-GMO foods take more land and resources to grow, which has a direct impact on the environment. They're also more expensive for no real gain, aside from in one or two special areas (while being weaker or worse in one or two others). Organic (non-GMO) is almost wholly just there to make people 'feel better'.

It's actually a lot more complicated than just politics. Part of it is placement of where food is produced and where food is needed. An excess of food is produced in certain areas, and there are areas that need that food but are quite far away. Preservation and transportation costs and issues need to then be taken into account. Ideally, we would have more balanced food production spread out over the world, so everyone gets roughly the same amounts of food for their population size.
And that's fine. That's a decision for you and you alone. Don't be like other assholes and try to fuck over everyone else, mmkay? Developing nations in particular need things like Golden Rice.

Wrongo.
“Daily consumption of a very modest amount of Golden Rice—about a cup—could supply 50 percent of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A for an adult,” said rice breeder Russell Reinke, who leads the Healthier Rice Program at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the organization that has been conducting field trials in the Philippines. “Ms. Bleakley’s statement is inaccurate and unsubstantiated.” -sauce

Here's another one for you.
"Because the two academic scientists who developed the original Golden Rice stipulated that it be made available to poor farmers for free, Syngenta, or any other corporation, does not own the intellectual property in developing countries and therefore cannot charge royalties. According to IRRI, the terms of the licenses in place in the Philippines and elsewhere ensure that Golden Rice varieties will cost no more than their conventional equivalents. This means that farmers will be able to save and replant Golden Rice seeds.
Syngenta could in the future choose to commercialize Golden Rice in developed countries, likely as a substitute for vitamin A pills."
It's literally free for poor farmers. What problem do you have with this?
Same with anti-vaxxers and racists: those least knowledgeable hold the strongest of opinions.
No, they are not the same thing. In layman's terms, one occurs "natural" and the other only through our doing. The goal might be identical though. But if you try to argue that the distinction in itself is bullshit... you are right.
It's also interesting to see how differently the US and EU approach GMO foods. The EU is insanely strict, where even additives made from GMO's undergo scrutiny and labelling unless they are a minuscule percentage of the mass. EU countries also have an at-will op-out for GMO food, even if the European Food Safety Authority legalizes the substance. Meanwhile, the US only asks (not even require iirc) you to label the food.
