You do realize the rtx 2060 is only about 2-3% slower than the 1080 and only costs 349.00, right lol?

    No I didn't.

How can they sell the GTX 1080 on newegg for $520 and up?

Even with a small overclock the 2060 will match or beat a 1080 in most games on the market, especially new ones.

No one is buying 1080's, they are buying 2060's

Ok then... maybe AMD could pull off a Navi card with RTX 2070 performance for $399?

    That's the spirit

But ya the 2060 is the card to buy for now, especially people on 1060's/980's/970's etc.

Same was already said about pascal. What you got was vega, a GTX1080 alternative that was a year late, had availability at 1080ti prices and sucked 50% more power for the same performance. By all accounts a worse product, even after the prices eventually stabilized at 1080 level. If anything "supporting the alternative" even when it's worse exacerbates the price inflation by justifying it. By all means wait for vega7/navi if you want but don't be stupid with your money if it turns out to be another vega.

Yeah I do want it...the RTX 2060 is priced great at 350$ MSRP.

And the Boost we 1060 People needed in some stuff. Hard to beat. minus it has only 6gb ram though but its DDR6....

If I wanted to get 60+ frames at 1440p, would the 2060 work? Assuming a decent CPU.

Nah, I'm not paying for things I won't use, same goes for RTX.
I think 10 series cards are good enough till the next gen games hit the market.

Easily, much more than that in a lot of games too.

Yes it does cause the market was screwed for a good long time until recently. I bought my RX 480 4GB for $240 before the mining craze and shortly afterwards the price jumped to over $300, and no gamer bought it.

i bought rtx 2060 day one for 349.00. The performance uplift alone over the 1060 is enough to justify the 70 dollar price hike (50 for founders edition models).
If we went by this mentality then a GTX 960 was justified at $400 cause it was a good deal faster than the GTX 660. That's not how the tech world works. You offer faster better products for the same previous price cause otherwise consumers won't buy it. Apple is dealing with this problem right now cause the demand for new iPhones are dropping, probably because the prices keep going up and people realize they don't need the latest and greatest. If a GTX 1060 can play games fine at 1080p then people won't upgrade.
As for DLSS its really not a matter of opinion, its going to prove to be very useful on the 2060 much more so than ray tracing will. You might be misunderstanding what DLSS is, it is a different form of AA and uses the tensor cores on the GPU die instead of actual graphics cores, meaning you get a great image with almost zero performance loss.
Serious talk here but DLSS is stupid as hell. The RTX cards are 50% traditional GPU's and 50% for Ray-Tracing. In 99.9999999% of games made so far you won't be using the other 50%. Only Battlefield V and Quake 2 can make full use of the RTX cards. DLSS uses the idle and doing jack AI core to do Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). You think it's a neat feature that brings free AA until you realize that Nvidia could have used that die space for more CUDA cores, texture pipelines, and etc.

Remember the DLSS feature is a bandaid for wasting half the GPU to do Ray-Tracing that doesn't work at max setting at 1080p on the RTX 2060. To make matters worse the RTX 2060 is $350 and only does Ray-Tracing for two games and one of those games is from 1996.

Depends on the game, but probably, yeah.

The 1070ti is still the better card Apparently. or get like vega 56. Jump into 4k.

The 1060 I run at 1440p. No it don't do well at 4k...

I had to. Catastrophic hardware failure this morning logging in to do my Dailies. been having game crashing and BSOD problems when I go to log in and play WoW or POE. I guess something finally gave on my GPU. Ended up getting a 2080 to replace my 980ti. Had my eye on the 2080 for a while, was gonna wait until a sale but... yeah

If you’re building a brand new computer, always go for the best card at that time.

I do this for every computer I build. I go ape shit, cutting edge tech. It lasts me easily 5-6 years before I start having to lower my game quality.

There is a sale...can probably pick up a 1070ti or vega 56 sub 350$...that is good and not bad. The 2060 is subjective and somewhere in between on what you think about it.

I know I'm getting tired of the 2k 1440p Showdown though. it's ok but being able to run 4k ALL the time would be a Blast.

Meh, got the 2080 to be good until the next (A) MAJOR computer upgrade or (B) catastrophic hardware failure.

Plus now I can eventually jump to 4k.
