I have an iphone. I like the iOS ecosystem and my iPad pro is hands down the device I use the most during the week. So it keeps everything nice and synced.
I also use a windows 10 PC and google services. IDGAF about retarded teenage level brand war.

But I do find it sad that people at work can't go 5 mins without checking their phone, twatter, fleecebook or other social media bollocks.
I'm sure in the future, humans will evolve (or devolve) into, having no mouths because speech will become non functionary and we'll grow an extra finger for just typing..

Why do I have to be a fanboy or a cultist to have an iphone?
I have iphone for a few different reasons. The biggest is that I work in China and they do not like Google. I do not want to have to spend hours working on ways around China's blocks for google app store, and I do not want to buy a Chinese android phone that has limited apps (like no VPNs) and limited functions to what I could get in my home country.
With Apple, your iTunes account determines what apps you can get, so having it set to my home country, I can get all the apps I want, and a ton that are blocked to China's citizens.
The second reason I go with Apple is I like the icloud backup for photos and the Apple Music service. Also, the newest phones are very secure. Android isn't as secure as iOS.
The reasons I think "fuck Apple" isn't because their products suck, it is the price they put on the products that I think is just fucking the consumers. However, if you wait a year and buy the older model the price drops substantially, so the big question is: can you wait?

All say Android, because fuck apple. No planned obsolesence on my device, no being told I'm using it wrong, no walled garden ecosystem, it has a headphone jack, it has more battery life, it's more durable, the selection is larger, and so on. The list could go on.

Still rocking the ol' Galaxy S6. Plan to upgrade to the S10 shortly after it comes out, assuming everything is well.
I've had Samsung cell phones since before Apple created their first phone and I've only drifted once - for an HTC - and I don't see myself drifting again. Samsung has treated me well more than enough times with these phones, so I have no need to go elsewhere. I've looked into others and am simply not sold on the need to move to a different brand. I had two flip phones from Samsung, one purchased in early 2004, one in 2007, both still work to this day (you just have to plug them into the wall, because the batteries are dead) and they dealt with being thrown at walls, dropped down stairs... you get the idea, they're rugged. Perhaps phones nowadays aren't so rugged, but I've not had any major issues with my Samsungs. If someone else could make a competitive phone, I'd look into it, there just hardly have been any. LG has made some decent ones, the One series was alright, Apple is Apple, and Motorola isn't what they once were.
