Warfronts - Purgatory of WoW

As a tank I just gather all the mobs and boss at the flag and AoE tank them down, thats at least helping out to end the warfront a lot sooner. The one thing I do hate is having to wait so long for the gate to go down (and the Darkshore variant), its taking so much time and there's nothing you can do to contribute other than protecting your demolishers. Your waiting about 5 minutes just so that you can go rush to the last boss.

I think warfronts are poorly designed and it needs either major improvements or just abandon it. They said they wanted it to make it feel like a battle in WC3, but other than the buildings names there's absolutely nothing that compares to a WC3 match.

Doesn't change the fact that Blizzard put in artificial barriers that block you from progressing.
Once you're at the "Siege stage" in Arathi, only your three demolishers are the ones making actual progress, no one else, so you sit there for like ~4-5 minutes doing nothing, watching 3 people hitting a single button every few seconds.

Similiar story in Darkshore, you_cannot_reach the final boss until your main building hits the last Tier, farming Iron is in Darkshore even a massive pain on top of that, in Arathi you can at least actively farm that shit.

If you could just rush from your main base towards the final boss, or at least put in some mechanics that extremely increase siege damage, then yeah, there would be ways to speed things up, but this entire "siege stage" is massive cockblock where only a handful of people just do useful stuff.

With Darkshore you should almost always be capped on Iron and upset that it's taking so long for the wisps to bring in lumber.

Unless you're horde and things are massively different Iron is super easy to come by in Darkshore.

Also you don't need the final form of the base, you just need to get to the siegeworks and even then you are allowed to walk right past the giant trees/robots and assault the last land based boss while the siege targets are still up.

It's certainly easier to push Arathi than Darkshore but that doesn't mean it's impossible.

You could just not do them. Easy solution I know but hard for many to comprehend.

I personally enjoy Warfronts and do them for Fun even without needing the gear.

Which is rather easy to farm once you captured the base and got your axe to farm trees.

I am Horde, there Iron is a pain in the ass as those caches have a longass respawntimer and those slave murlocs also don't respawn rather quickly.

The last spot is easy to take, the issue are those glaives, as bats don't spawn until all glaives are dead, which take you to the Boss.

If Warfronts are intended for a LFR audience, it should award LFR based loot.
Completing a LFR Wing also doesn't give 400 Ilvl pieces.

But due the fact it awards Hc Ilvl rewards, has additional promotion via Map Icon, Contribution stuff and whatnot, i would argue that Warfronts is intended for more people than the LFR audience.

World bosses also do not yield LFR loot, despite being extremely easy.

So since everyone has to do the new warfront again because it provides a free ilvl 400 item, I just figured out why warfonts are the worst content in mmo history.

The warfont takes about 20 minutes to complete and there is not much you can do to speed it up. An efficient player like me would think to himself "Nothing I do here matters so i'll just go afk for that time and do something more productive like making my taxes or cutting my toenails" but here comes the issue: The LFR Police!

Some lowlifes are always checking the map and if you arent in immediate proximity the the rest of the group you'll get called out and kicked. Kinda like it is in Island expeditions. LFR-Hero number 1 sees that you arent close to him and therefore you have to be kicked although you are basically clearing the Island by yourself.
Of course in the case of the wafront you are really afk.

What I am trying to say is:

You can get many more ilvl 400 items from m10s, which are absurdly accessible and fast, and repeatable.

This idea that "OMG, I can get XXX from doing that! I MUST do it!" means you're 'forced' to do things is just a product of weak will.

Considering we are talking about a 20min event that only occurs every ~2weeks, that argument is extremely one sided.
I'd let that slide if we were talking about PvP or some shit, something that actually involves serious time investment.

No idea why this is such a difficult thing to understand, Warfronts aren't fun, they're not Pet battles or PvP which are really more of taste thing, but Warfronts are fundamentally not fun, not just because they're super easy.

If every single mob in the Warfront had more 100% Damage / HP, they'd still be boring.

It actually isn't just an afk waiting game. I wouldn't expect a person that is pro-afk in the first place to understand. A warfront can be be sped up by collecting resources faster. You don't want to rush out and capture things if you are not gathering resources. This is apparent in Darkshore as you often capture things faster then your resources so majority just afk or stand around.

Yes they are boring. I do them because it's good gear or I'm after a transmog set that I can't get elsewhere. I don't mind Arathi that much, events and the feeling of contribution. Darkshore feels very much on wheels, you're waiting for something to happen so you can do something else. There's no fun events like Arathi and it becomes very dull.

I can understand people going AFK. I know a fair few people in my Guild does because they just aren't fun. But the carrot on the stick exists, so you do it.

No. They left those rewards the same because it is considered a "Season 1" war front.

Because it's time limited so the reward can be higher than LFR quality gear (they've said this before). Just because the reward is at a certain level still does not mean it's intended for certain people. But, if those people choose to do it anyway at least they get something nice that maybe they can use.

So preset time schedules and participation rewards instead of commitment/effort. Got it.

In a competetive environment, you'll try to take the optimal path that will allow you to get the most amount of good gear in order to be... competetive. Of course no one technically forces you. It's just that you'll probably be worse than everybody who does it.
