Umm no, the teacher most assuredly was the primary instigator in the situation and deserves his or her share of the blame, however, the facts regarding the child’s out of bounds behavior is not based on “claims” by the teacher but the first hand experience of school administrators and police officials. Unless, this is a conspiracy aginst the kid, the kids behavior was inappropriate and disproportionate for the situation.
He didn't get charged with not standing for the pledge. It was all the shit after that he was charged with. Just because the sub escalated it by confronting the kid(which they shouldn't have as its not required to do the pledge in US schools) doesn't mean the kid shouldn't be held responsible for the shit that occurred after.
Also it said the sub was from Cuba so maybe there could be some reason why the teacher believed the kid needed to stand, either because they are grateful they escaped and now live in America or in Cuba they have a similar thing that they require kids to do in school, etc...
This just sounds like stupidity galore..
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
Very sort. Written around 1870-1880
It's a loyalty oath for the Southern man. We lost more people in our Civil War than any other war, more than all the other wars combined.
"one Nation" means you can't turn it into 2 nations like the Souther people tried to.
"indivisible" again you can't divide it into 2.
In exchange everyone gets "liberty and justice for all", including the Southern people.
"under God" was added like in 1950.

"This will be a fight against overwhelming odds from which survival cannot be expected. We will do what damage we can."
-- Capt. Copeland
The pledge in US school is something genuinely creepy not gonna lie
Swearing your allegiance to your country everyday? That's feudal-tier nonsense, nothing short of brainwashing,it has no place in a civilised country
Can't remember if you also mentioned it, but the problem likely escalated when the resource officer (aka, a police officer at a school) was called in for a student being belligerent and/or being disruptive and preventing the class from operating. Considering the dribble the kid was spouting, something that a kid his age likely was fed by his parents versus coming to such conclusions on his own, I can guarantee he willingly escalated everything to cause a scene and was disruptive. I have a sneaking suspicion that there's a lot of stuff that's glossed over that the kid said or did, as it takes a LOT for a kid to go from disruptive in class to ending up in juvi. I know the resource officer at my school quite well (as well as the previous ones, it's like a 2 year billet), and he/she have never had anything escalated to locking up a kid in juvi. When I was in school, I certainly did see such things occur, and it was because the students started threatening to kill or hurt people... or actual escalation to violence. There were kids who were combative in terms of attitudes and words, but that gets you in the principle's office at worst.
“Society is endangered not by the great profligacy of a few, but by the laxity of morals amongst all.”
“It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights — the 'right' to education, the 'right' to health care, the 'right' to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery — hay and a barn for human cattle.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville
The original Pledge of Allegiance ("We give our heads and hearts to God and our country; one country, one language, one flag!") was written at an unknown time in the later 1800s. The originator, George Thatcher Batch, intended it to be taught to children, especially immigrant children, to instill loyalty to the US.
The version we are familiar with was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, a noted socialist.
This is mentioned nowhere in the origins of the Pledge. It's a loyalty oath for the Southern man. We lost more people in our Civil War than any other war, more than all the other wars combined.
This seems to have been invented whole cloth, as there is no mention of this by Bellamy. Bellamy stated he wanted to re-instill the feeling of patriotism which he felt was at a low ebb in the 1890s. Nor is it mentioned by the author of the shorter original pledge who again stated his focus was immigrant children. Bellamy also originally considered adding the word 'equality' but felt it was a dubious word and state school superintendents of the time were not exactly keen on, you know, actual equality."one Nation" means you can't turn it into 2 nations like the Souther people tried to.
"indivisible" again you can't divide it into 2.
In exchange everyone gets "liberty and justice for all", including the Southern people.
1954. This was actually the fourth change to create the fifth (and current) version of the Pledge. So when someone shouts at you that you can't remove 'under God' just remind them the Pledge has already been changed four times, 'under God' was added to distinguish the Holy USA from those Godless Commies during the Cold War, which is ironic given the Pledge was originally written by a raging socialist. Then stand back, their brain will explode and you don't want to get any on you."under God" was added like in 1950.
If the portion about him making threats is true, then yes he should be arrested.
If not, then that school is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucked.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.
Just, be kind.
no, a punk was arrested for threatening faculty and then the police.
While the subby sounds like a twat, the kid got charged with being a little brat who threatened people. Seems justified to me.

The National Anthem ABSOLUTELY is racist, did you know that there is a 3rd verse that no one recites anymore?
But this is about the pledge of allegiance, not the national anthem. It is just forced patriotism though. No refuge could save the hireling and slave
from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave.
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Yeah this thread badly needs a new title. The altercation began over the Pledge but he most certainly wasn't charged for that.
Yeah that was the Bellamy salute. They all originated from the same place, the old Roman Legion salute. It was used occasionally in the US. Mussolini brought it back as the Fascist salute in Italy, Hitler saw that and copied it.
That picture is of course now infamous, but the Bellamy salute was not universal.
Here's a modified version of the familiar hand-over-heart salute from around the turn of the century. Point more there wasn't a 'standard' formal salute to the flag for a long time.
