It's pretty common to give victims support. Obviously this gets a bit grey when they're accusing other people (because then who do you believe?) but there was obviously a pursuing investigation concerning this, and eventually he was revealed to have been lying.

Like I said, should no one ever commit crimes or lie? Because that won't happen.
