You realize most of YT and Reddict sources come from MSM reports? I know this very well, as I don't watch TV directly at all myself, yet pretty much all the people I watch on YT or articles I read on Reddit come from some publication. Pure investigative reporting/original content is quite rare on the alt-media. For example, WeAreChange going to France to cover the protests, or Project Veritas. Yes, yes, they are biased, but at least they got off their butts and did live/undercover reporting. Most youtubers would put up some webpage in the background and comment, or play some CNN clip and comment etc.

There's just not enough money in this for proper journalism. Yet. And when there will be, we'll get new Fox and CNN once again, as this is what money breeds, conformity.

As TV becomes increasingly irrelevant I imagine it'll slide into the kind of ghetto radio is in. Mostly only old people watching it, everything decent will have transitioned to online streaming, and the landscape will mostly be a few old shows clinging on and some conservative shock jocks milking gullible old farts for money.

I don't have statistics to back it up, but I'm pretty certian that even in 2019 majority of households have a TV with main cable channels.

No that has been on a free fall for a long time now it is well under 50 percent after 2017, younger people aren't watching TV anymore not just news.

Cable is so expensive in the US and the internet has so much unless you are old no reason to have cable.

Disagree but I've not been impressed with CNN for some time, nor the NYT online coverage.

Agree with you, ever since 2016 election CNN has fallen greatly in my eyes and I never liked Fox news in the first place.

Really? How much does it cost to set up a cable TV in US? In Russia we have internet companies who have their own so called WIFI TV with the channels you actually interested in and you pay both for the internet AND tv around 10-15$. But old people around the age of 50+ are still paying aobut 40$ per 2 months for cable since they don't know how to use internet (yes it's the case in Russia).

Well I think due to US being a developed country with decent salaries 50-100$ for cable is not that bad, but what kind of additional fees do they ask you for I wonder? Is it for something like additional channels?

No just random fees they make up to add to the bill here is an example.

None of those appear random or invented. The HD fee in antiquated, at this point, but it had a reason when they needed to upgrade the existing lines to deal with the additional bandwidth requirements. The rest are either equipment rentals or access to channels/services.

Why can't they just be added into the price? why do they have to be added fees?

The TV packages aren't required, you can ask to not have the sports or w/e. The equipment rentals aren't required, you can always buy them. The HD fee is the only thing that's shitty and it's cancelled out by the discount on the package.

The equipment used to be a free and the discount of the package goes away depending on the fine print, cable companies are horrible. There is really no reason to have cable anymore it's just way too expensive and a waste of money which is why they were so happy to kill net neutrality so they can sell people's personal information for more profit.

I'm honestly surprised Fox isn't doing better. It's pretty much kept afloat by older, scared conservatives that have stuck with cable TV. Many younger people have ditched TV completely in favor of Netflix or similar steaming platforms, which would explain the ratings being skewed in favor of Fox.
