First one is not pretentious...I knew a family whose dog had digestive issues and with all the stuff in dog food, it was the only way the dog could eat without vomiting all day. The second one may be, I'd have to have been there to know. I've been the vegan getting berated or things get awkward because I decline a meatball or something.

Dog fighting is enjoyed by lots of people from lots of culture. They make money off it and get pleasure in watching the fighting. If someone was into dog fighting, is it considered pretentious or holier than thou to voice your opinions against dog fighting?

That's how vegans feel. We feel eating meat and dairy is just as bad for those animals as dog fighting is for the dogs.

If everyone was vegan that would wipe out almost all animals that are kept for food production. So yes, being vegan is not a way to help animals its a path to wipe them from the planet.

The best way to save a animal is to convince people they are yummy, if we today convinced people that tigers where tasty in a hundred years there would be huge tiger farms "everywhere".

You think a vegan's line is "life" when it isn;t. A vegan's line is does this being have the ability to suffer. Plants don;t suffer in anyway we can tell. They react to stimulus, but they don;t have a central nervous system that can interpret that stimulus as pain. If they cannot feel pain, they cannot suffer.

The world is a complicated place, just driving a car can and does hurt other living things, that is why we subscribe to the concept of doing the least amount of harm possible. But just because harm happens sometimes, doesn't mean it is ok to just forget about trying to cause as little as possible. I mean if a person accidentally kills another person, that doesn't mean they should say fuck it and go on a killing spree. It also doesn't;t mean they don't value human life.

As far as the vegans you know, just know that because some eats an entirely plant based diet doesn't mean they are vegan. Being vegan is a whole life thing, where we don't use animals or animal products (or products tested on animals) in our diet but we also don't use them anywhere else in our life where it can be helped. So if the people are just eating planet based, then they probably are pretentious as most people on a given diet are pretentious about it, whether it be Paleo, Keto, etc.

I understand the line of reducing suffering and idc how they eat. But when they tell me what I need to do, that's when they become assholes. That's great that they perceive eating meat as contributing to suffering, but I dont share that perception. So they have no right to tell me how I should eat.
