I don't think I have actively ever decided to no longer be someone's friend, people tend to float in and out of my life though (minus a small core group of friends) and I'm ok with it. I assume the other people involved are ok with it too, we check up on each other as we see fit.

Are we talking like on the internet? Because there is literally no one that I would unfriend there hell I don't even know half of the "Friends" I have online. IRL all my friends share the same viewpoints and have the same values as I do so they would have to do something pretty drastic like sleep with my wife or something like that.
