Gotta love being VPN company with some many idiots in charge of countries internet policies.

People who actually believe this is to "protect the children" are idiots, making is hard for young teens to find porn could make em accidentally stumbling over some real nasty shit, there is close to zero bad effect of having kids down to age of 14 viewing porn (in moderation), the people in charge have to stop being prudes.

Every week the UK works their way to become the UK of V for Vendetta, not sure whats more hilarious UK, US or Australia battling on who is the worst.

Can get around it with a VPN but is makes me appreciate being in a free country like the USA. No guns, no porn, hard to speed because traffic came everywhere. Must suck. Trump should open a program to bring in right wing freedom living people from the oppressive nations of Europe.

Understand this isnt "no problem if your 18+" you have to go through annoyance of proving your 18 to see a nude human body.

The whole issue is to do with parental responsibility.

If your are not computer savvy enough to know how to stop your 12 year old from accessing porn, then you really are a bit thick. Doesn't need puritanical legislation cloaked in the guise of something softer.

I'll take this on the chin... but, no, you're completely wrong....
Yeah... this isn't about protecting people it is about taxation.

How is the USA in there? We have right to own guns, right to view porn, not quite as many cameras everywhere, dont have a commie heath care system. USA is great. Replace USA with New Zealand. 1 shooting everyone loses their guns. What tyranny.

Yup this kind of shit certainly feels, looks and smells like May's branch of the so called "Moral Majority" wing of the Tory Party. I bet the ghost of Mary Whitehouse must have spurred them on.

Its the oldest political trick in the book, you invent a issue then you leverage it to chip away at people's liberties and if you do it right they'll thank you for it. You see it all the time in the US, see voter ID to tackle voter fraud, bathroom bills to stop the hordes of trans people stalking bathrooms to molest children or the plethora of intrusive laws in the name of national security.

Thing to understand here is porn is kind of a side issue in this, its just an easy place to start because of the whole "think of the children" and the general puritanism means you can sucker in people from both sides of the political aisle. Not to mention by pretending its about the non existent problem of underage porn use you make it career suicide for any MP to stand up against it.

When it comes down to it really its about testing the water in what they can get away with in terms of internet censorship and privacy. Using this law they have manufactured a situation where you basically make the choice between not viewing the sites you want or being monitored(barring people who are relatively tech savy, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's an attack on vpns in the near future) when you use them. If it meets little resistance after its implemented they can start expanding it to other areas.

Yup one of the "Think of the children." moral majority conservatives through and through.

    b) but do I want my kids watching Stepbrother Anally Destructs Stepsister While Being Throttled By A Mask-covered Gimp etc..... no (yep, for the moment, I can ensure they can't do this by existing controls at my disposal)
    c) coz, this isn't what sex is about is it? or does someone wanna tell me I'm wrong
    d) however, would I object to my kids exploring soft porn in their own time as they go through adolescence? no.

Like I said - the whole thing's overkill. Let parents determine what's appropriate, not the state.
Yeah shure fetishes aren´t what sex is about noooo ofc not...

Children do need protection against pornography, however imo it should be the parents who monitor them, not the government.

    Exactly this 100%

You can't stop under age kids from watching porn but we can't just say "guys calm down, it's just sex" since that argument is very stupid.

It's not an argument. It's a satirical jab at the ludicrousness of the idea.

Link me where Trump wants to stop people being able to see porn? Also I never said I am Republican. Republicans are just the better choice. I'm pro gun pro brutalize criminals pro choice pro military want low taxes and think people should have to take care of themselves non religious.

But is it stupid? Say what you will about me - but I watched porn at a young age.... and I'm not some sexual deviant, and I'm not repressed either. Being open about things like this is the better option. If a parent doesn't want their kids watching porn they should have a discussion about it instead of ban it. Hating pornography is just puritanical bullshit.

If an adult wants to watch 2+ other adults have consenting sex, who the hell really cares ?

This is why Tor and VPNs exist so don't really think this will have that much of an impact.

On one hand I want to mock UK yet again for being such a authoritarian yet incompetent 1984 clownworld. But I do think its a good idea. A lot of porn sites in the 90's had 'adult pass' style verification.
