Avenatti and most people here support a proper investigation into the matter, so there isn't that much of an inconsistency on that end, to be honest. The biggest inconsistency so far are people who unconditionally believe this person, but did not believe Ford back then.

Good thing an investigation will solve this, I know how much that hurts your kin.

We do believe women, just not one that magically vanished after the fact, with no evidence that Avenatti hit her, other than her word.

Considering the DA in the area where he was arrested, isn't prosecuting, it is pretty much lies.

See, that's the thing. We are

    1) Woman declares she was attacked.
    2) Investigation called for.
    3) Investigation carried out thoroughly.
    4) Experienced law enforcement and state prosecutors make their case, including "we drop charges".
    5) If there is a step 5, we continue from there.

Kavanaugh's case skipped ahead because of a rushed, intentionally limited investigation. Had there been a thorough one, you'd have everyone here saying "well, we'll abide by their decision". Until then, you have zero evidence of lack of consistency. You have projection and conjecture, but no evidence.

First Porn star drops him, then he gets indicted in 2 states. Which of you guys had him being indicted before Trump? Definitely still the hero you deserve and need.

I'm enjoying some conservative media taking victory laps as if Democrats actually embraced and supported Avenatti rather than just treating him as a useful idiot. Because just about their only evidence was that one stupid Cillizza piece on the topic that everyone rolled their eyes at when he posted it.

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but it's not so much a shot at Democrats, it's a shot at CNN for giving that guy waaaaay more air time than he deserved. They did the same with Trump too, you'd think they'd learn their lesson.

Ya I dunno who would be more stupid. Chris Cillizza, or anyone that puts in the effort to quote him...

Avenatti still triggering these guys. It's like been 3 necros over a year.

Bad 48 hours for Democrats, but you're probably right - the Avenatti thing is more of a black eye on CNN.

What is with all these lawyers and breaking the law? first Cohen and then Avenatti. I thought lawyers knew the law better than anyone and thus would be less likely to break it.

Extortion, fraud, embezzlement, and domestic violence. Yup he's definitely the hero we need.

People thought that way with Trump, so why not?

    How is it bad?

The report didn't exonerate Trump from crimes and the fact the DoJ and senate Repubs are blocking the release of the report also indicates Trump and likely others are guilty.

Aventi means no more to the dems then Cohen did. He was a tool, nothing more.

Anyone who thought this weird slimeball creep was a "hero" is honestly mentally deficient. It's almost like he is playing a parody trope of the sleaziest lawyer imaginable.

Well turns out Avenatti was the weaselly lawyer he appeared to be.

I hoped he wasn't but ah well, what a POS.

But for the current moment, there is immeasurable value in him bringing so much information to the public. He seems to be doing the work most of the media could not be bother to do. Or say the things that Muller won't or is not allowed to say.

Was never into twitter, but his feed has been more and more informative.

That's the questions journalists should be asking. What's a Demeter Direct? Sounds like the answer to those pop-up ads about "this one neat trick..."

After Mueller's investigation conclusions, this guy sounds like a borderline conspiracy kook.

I mean, people really get ridiculously into this hero/villain thing. He's a lawyer, he handled the PR pretty well I suppose but all he was really doing was making the best case for his client.

I mean shit, people were deifying Rod Rosenstein for keeping the Mueller investigation open. Fucks sake people, wake up.

Which specific points was he wrong about?

When you're rich they let you do it.

How about Cyrus Vance Jr, who killed the investigation into Harvey Weinstein that nearly caught the fucker after receiving a campaign donation from Weinstein's lawyer? And also killed a fraud investigation into Ivanka and Trump Jr after Trump's lawyer Marc Kasowitz also made a campaign donation to him? Marc Kasowitz later bragged about that one...

Yeah, that guy's still a DA. Rules are for poor people, honey.

This guy is the gift that keeps on giving, especially making the best case for his clients....and then robbing them:

    https://sports.yahoo.com/michael-ave...140345481.html

"Avenatti was entitled to $1 million of the $3 million settlement to cover legal fees. To meet the terms of the deal, Whiteside wired Avenatti the first payment of $2.75 million, which Avenatti was then supposed to pass on to Gardner. However, the settlement never made it to her. Prosecutors allege that Avenatti hid the payment and took $2.75 million to buy a share of a private jet.

Gardner isn’t the only client from whom Avenatti is accused of embezzling. He’s also accused of stealing settlement money from a makeup artist with a large YouTube following and a mentally ill paraplegic."

I like the mentally ill paraplegic part, kinda puts the cherry on top of the hero status.
