maybe its advertising. maybe they are trying to hide the unique twist to the story as not to spoil the reveal, for all i know, but as a result - there is NOTHING about this story that shows that its a different spin on a zombie survival genre or survival genre in general. its bland, sorry. it looks like a very competent, very.. bland game.
Escorting only virus survivor and hope for humanity is so original also?

A story is made up of its characters and memorable moments. We dont know how Deacon will evolve. And some of the situations he gets put in sound interesting and it sounds like you're gonna meet a bunch of people that live in small to large compounds.

Theres also the fucked up ravagers/cult like group of people which is "generic" for sci fi storys but it still works well and is beloved for series like Firefly.

Sounds like you're judging a book by its cover.

they are not showing me anything interesting about the cover. at the time The last of us was first revealed, we didn't have many guy and a daughter (well daughter figure) surviving together narratives. it was a unique hook, as well as "our zombies are different" spin on it.

meanwhile trailer Deacon is boring. you are correct, its about getting attached to the characters and there is nothing in advertising to make Deacon interesting enough for me to care about. he is very generic from the way he looks, to his flashbacks, to his present day actions revealed in the trailers. every bit of trailers for days gone is giving me deja vu. various people in various compounds that may or may not be friendly has also been done before, YES including last of us.

advertising is supposed to get you interested, its supposed to hook you and make you want to play a thing. but as i watch Days Gone trailers i keep feeling that I've already played that game. and unlike say... Borderlans where every sequel is more of the same and that's part of the appeal, this is a first game in a series. and it feels like something i've already played, more then once.

Yea I'm picking it up this week. also pushing it hard where? I haven't seen any real advertising for it especially compared to mk11.

I'm firmly in the waiting for reviews camp, but honestly I'm at a point in life where I have too many games and not enough time to play them, so unless a game is on a deep sale or I REALLY want to play it, I'd rather work through my backlog and play it later.

I mean MTX/loot box games are bad.

And now single player story games is bad?

Might as well give up on gaming at this rate.
That is sort of the problem for me. I still not sure if the story aspect even is the focus of the game. Majority of the stuff I have seen so far, and granted I haven't really gone out of my way to look into too much, makes it seem like it is the survival aspect that is more the focus. I don't care at all about survival games but if Days Gone is going to tell a solid story then I will be in. Otherwise this seems like it will be exactly what was already said, a bigger budget State of Decay and I found that game really boring.

It will be a much larger budget State of Decay that attempts to tell a good story. That much is clear.

Whether or not the story is actually good or not on the other hand... guess we'll see.

I worry about how good the story will be because I only really cared about the story in 2 open world games this gen. RDR2 and Witcher 3. Every other open world game has had stories suffer at the consequence of trying to fill an large world with content. Horizon was even victim of this IMO but was still a good game, the story was just the weakest part of it by far.

Honestly? Zombie survival crafting simulator version 8,434 isn't interesting enough for me to pick up. I can't wait till this phase of games pass.
Just don't reply to me. Please. If you can help it.

I have seen zero marketing for this game compared to lets say Mortal Kombat 11 who market the shit out of their game.

I cared until I found out it wasn't coming to PC. then forgot mostly about it.

    I pre-ordered it, fully knowing it's going to be a 6-7.

I just liked a lot from what I have seen, I know what it's going to be about and I will enjoy it enough to justify a purchase.

Never getting tired of open world survival/zombie games

People keep claiming this but how many did we actually get this gen?

    State of Decay 2
    Dead Rising 3 and 4
    Dying Light

Am I missing any? People claim this is some "played out fad" and I'm sitting here wondering what the fuck they are talking about. State of Decay and Dead Rising also don't take themselves serious so really the most comparable game this entire gen is Dying Light. Don't see this shit in the least.

Found out? At what point did you think a game developed by a fully owned Sony 1st party studio would come to PC? lmao

I didn't claim anything. I just wished this phase of games would pass.

Obvious hyperbole aside, this is claiming this type of game is common. It's not. Nor is it a "phase" of games.

    And what Phase is that?

There is many types of games for many types of players. Don't like this one move on to one you do like, Not everything that comes out has to fit your needs.

It's not now, but it wasn't that long ago that we were inundated with zombie games and zombie media like The Walking Dead and a shit ton of movies.

I don't really mind that we're getting more zombie games, but I think a lot of people still have varying levels of zombie fatigue. A normal game needs like an 8 to get consideration from me at this point, but a zombie game needs like a 9 because I'm just tired of the zombie theme at this point.

The point where I had only see random snippets of trailers and clips and didn't realise it was a Sony owned IP? And once I did as I had said, forgot mostly about it.

    nice try though kiddo.

Mate the only one who seems to have their panties in a bunch is you, this reply alone is proof of that.

Yes, because every single trailer doesn't say the game is published by SIE and the game is developed by SB. That's beside the point you don't magically find trailers of this game outside of sony events and the playstation youtube channel.

Pretty sure you where just posting that comment in bad faith to complain it wasn't on PC. Not what you claim, it was clear to anyone the first time they watch it that it's PS4 exclusive.
