I do miss areas of San Diego, especially San Diego proper, like Balboa Park and the waterfront areas.

I do not miss the Escondido/Poway/Rancho Bernardo area. To be honest, CMR wasn't that bad either. Would go to this really good seafood place in Carlsbad, I think. Pelly's, if I remember right.
