- Order of Elune – Badass Amazonian type Female warrior priestesses
- Druids – Tree hugger nature loving night elves
- Highborne - Arcane focused night elves
- Illidari NElves - Demon and fel infused night elves – now their own falf night elf faction
- Nightborne - Nightwell infused night elves – now the night elves on the horde
- Undead Ravencrest NElves - Independent Undead Night elf group, DK like led by Lord Ravencrest
Order of Elune - Female Warrior Priest dominated group, that took over the leadership of the Kaldorei race after the sundering. The order’s operation expanded from it’s Priestly calling core to train hunters, Sentinels, Wardens that carried out the vigil of the kaldorei for 10,000 years. When the long vigil ended and the night elves came out of isolation, the order has opened up its ranks to males and worgen (as of cataclysm). It remains predominantly female in all its branches
Druids – the embodiment of the night elves’ love for nature, this order involves all things nature and was a major influence in the culture of the Long Vigil Kaldorei during the period the arcane was banned. Founded by Malfurion Stormrage, the druids have many branches and groups, including the Druids of the Claw, the Talon, the Branch, the Wilds, the Dreamwardens and other bodies like the Cenarion Circle who opened their does to other races for the first time when the night elves came out of isolation
Highborne – A caste of night elves who originally were specially selected by Queen Azshara for their exceptional arcane talent. Amongst the night elves today, the Shen’dralar highborne lead and rebuild the caste while others like the Farondis remained trapped ghost. Highborne are not limited to kaldorei. Shal’dorei nightborne have members who retain their highborne heritage, as do members of the naga race. The Thalassian elves are a race of elves descended from this night elven caste. Amongst the night elf race, the Highborne have two distinct groups, the Farondis, who are currently in a cursed state and were instrumental in the defeat of the Legion, they are led by none other than Prince Farondis, and the Darnassian Highborne led by the Shen’drlaar from Eldre’thalas who now recruit talented night elves in the arcane to the order’s rank in
Illidari – A highly specialised group of night elves recruited and/or inspired by Illidan Stormrage to defeat the Burning Legion demonic force and avenge the night elves genocided by the Legion in the first invasion. They infuse themselves with demonic fel energies tin empower themselves to fight the demons with their own power and their own members. They are half demon half nigiht elves, and as of the TBC blood elves were allowed to join their ranks, though many of these were killed in the Black Temple quests and raids, some of the strongest survived. Naga, Broken and various demons were added to their ranks in Legion as outcast Illidari. Demons are as often enslaved and used as much as allied with, all for the singular purpose of destroying the Legion and any attack on the night elves’ homeworld of Azeroth.
Nightborne – night elf pre-sundering community recently joined the horde they look slightly different because the nightwell addiction changed their appearance but the fruit of the Arcan’dor is healing and restoring them. The nighborne are snapshot of kaldorei community as it was during the time of the first invasion of the legion, when the kaldorei had an arcane focused society that had gone out of balance from neglect of it’s nature love, and many of their elite caste had become arrogant and addicted. Not all, amongst the community of Suramar that chose not march with the resistance against Queen Azshara, had lost their nobility, it was these remembering their noble traditions that rose up and eventually rescued their city a 2nd time from the Legion, they chose to join the descendants of the highborne amongst the horde rather than those amongst the alliance in the end.
Undead Night Elves - a recent group that has arisen, first in Legion Expansion, raised by the Legion to destroy the efforts of the heroes of Azeroth, the deception was broken when a highly specialized team of leaders of the Order Halls entered the Rook to foil the Legion's plans. After he was defeated, Lord Ravencrests deception was lifted, he then aided the effort against the Legion. However it is unclear whether the deception was lifted throughout the entire Hold or just those inside the Keep.
Other groups and sects agree. I didn't count Cenarians even though they are half night elven, they aren't directly from or off the kaldorei, though they are part of their lore and only appear in association with them for druidic things.
I didn't include the Moonguard, cos while the group remains, the fate is undecdided, they could go in any direction, they could be restored by aligning with the kaldorei Darnassians and being the highborne battle focused group like we have Illidari, Sentinels and Feral druids - groups focused on combat. they could join the nightborne and the dusk guard ending the order, or just fade. I don't think they should fade, according to the lore they would have former members amongst the Darnassians who beacme druids (and likely the balance druid wing) - this could be used to really flesh out and expand the Moonguard, which could be come the magical fighting unit including mages, balance druids and Moonpriestesses who instead use their magic offensively.
However one does not know what blizzard will do, they tend to do the most uninspring thing for groups they don't care about or have left behind in a previous expansion, but sometimes theydo surprising things.
