Heavy / Doom metal from Canada

2019 has been a strong year, especially for traditional metal.

Traveler, Source, Smoulder, Magnabolt, Chevalier and Vultures Vengeance have really delivered, just from the top of my head. I can't wait for the new Eternal Champion album this summer. If it's just half as good as The Armor of Ire, I'm sold.

Definitely, and I can't wait for the new Eternal Champion. The Armor of Ire was incredible.

So far Traveler is my favorite album this year; It's a masterpiece.

That Vargrav one in particular was most excellent. Could contend for best of '96.

New Kampfar dropped today, it's really good!
New Amon Amarth dropped today, it's Twilight of the Thundergod for the 5th time!

New one is their worst material by far. The guitar tone is so dull it's insane to me, they've always had good tone before this. Songs aren't catchy like you'd expect from this style of melodeath, and it's about 20 minutes longer than it needed to be.

How would you rank their discography? For me it's probably something like this:
    Spoiler:

    1. Once Sent From the Golden Hall
    2. With Oden On Our Side
    3. Twilight of the Thunder God
    4. The Avenger
    5. Versus the World
    6. Fate of Norns
    7. The Crusher
    8. Surtur Rising
    9. Deceiver of the Gods
    10. Jomsviking
    I'd probably go
    Spoiler:

    TotTG
    With Oden
    Versus
    Fate
    Once Sent
    Avenger
    Crusher
    Surter
    Deciever
    Joms
    Berserker

been pretty out of touch with what's new lately(less interested in music)
I had fun once, it was terrible.

It's decent background music if you don't want to actually pay attention to something you haven't heard before.

I've got so many questions regarding the new DSO single, but I guess I'll wait for the album to drop

    New CoL

New Spirit Adrift is out. Pretty decent on first listening. In line with the previous album.

Also, for prog (and Fates Warning) fans, new Arch / Matheos also dropped today. Super stoked for that, but haven't had a chance to listen yet.

On first listen it's not as good as their debut; it's not a bad album however. Gotta give it some more spins.

    1. Zahrimar - Call of the Void.
    2. Ærekær - Avindskjold.
    3. Ísfjall - Endalaus Vetrar Nótt.
    4. Óreiða - Óreiða.
    5. Voëmmr - O ovnh intot adr mordrb.

It's out, it's out! If you have ever wondered how LLN of aeons past would sound 25 years later, rejoice knowing that the long waiting has ceased at last. Voëmmr's highly anticipated sophomore delivers the answer which has been avidly sought by the few deviants here and there. And it's a repugnant answer, of that rest assured: many listeners of contemporary black metal execrate being reminded how it's supposed to sound like. Does anyone want to bet that it will be indeed an album which will "go gentle into that good night", largely dismissed by the target audience? And that's quite alright, de gustibus...

For what it's worth, these guys have participated to (only) one interview and also (only) one live performance in the years they have been active. And they're both online, go figure: BMD, IRM IV. The days of kvlt black are gone forevermore, but that's hardly a surprise anymore.

I've done long, i've done short hair, now it's long and with a beard
I listen to anything which sounds good to me, but main genre is metal i would say.

Excellent power thrash from the US. Debut album no less (Paladin - Ascension).
