This really didn't need it's own special category. "Gaming disorder" falls right in line with any other inability to exert control over ones preferred hobbies or habits.

It didn't get its own special category, Its a sub category just like gambling and alcohol.

This isn't about kids or parenting. It's about people who can't control their impulses to the point of it destroying their life. It's no different than gambling excessively at a casino. It's often a biological issue with parts of the brain being underdeveloped. The traits are often seen in people with ADHD for one.

It didn't even need that much distinction.

In your opinion, But factually you are wrong.

By this happening that means people can get their addiction issues covered by their healthcare much easier then before, If they are using gaming as their addiction.
(Watch the video, over look the small jokes. To actually understand why this is a good thing)

This happening is actually a good thing but a small dumb part of the internet rather just turn it into a meme.

I already have a good life. But if governments and organisations want to be stupid then it’s my god-given duty to take advantage of it.

If this goes through, I think I might be seriously tempted to get my medical insurance to pay for all my videogames. And maybe my hardware. I hear that new PS5 is gonna be upwards of $600 with the cost of the tariffs on china being passed on to the end-user. And WoW classic is coming soon, so maybe I can take some time off work due to my "condition" in order to play.

Ok, sarcasm aside, this labeling of videogame "addiction" as a disease is a joke. Utterly ridiculous.

So they now say gaming disorder is a disease but wants to remove gender dysphoria. WHO is a bunch of politically motivated idiots.

I likely had this through the NES - Dreamcast years.

Nice thread. Too bad you're almost a year late. The World Health Organization reported almost a year ago this nonsense.

    https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/18/healt...who/index.html

WHO is absolutely worthless. Always has been. On top of being wrong most of the time, they're a dog with no teeth. This gaming addiction bullshit was introduced by "Dr." Vladimir Poznyak. Written by a Russian, a clear puppet of Putin. And no one knows why Putin is so hard over sticking his nose in the affairs of gaming. Look at his assholery in the realm of FIFA. Putin told Dvorkovich to be the Chess FIDE president so they could continue to corrupt it. Putin had their Olympic contestants participate in a government sponsored forced doping program. Even the special Olympians!! This is 100% Russian corruption.

If you take the WHO seriously at all then you are a fool. The World Health Organization is a group of corrupt morons.

Maybe until now it's been open to change or under consideration and now it's been officialy released so "no going back" or i don't know why everyone is writing about it these past few days.

I have no idea why it would be in the news now, either. That would be a good question.

Officially released? Hmm. The WHO are officials of nothing and hold no actual power or leverage on anything though.

The way i see it , WHO compiles data taken from numerous studies in every field and based on those results determine if something is on the rise or regressing or if it's a risk. Even the gaming adiction thing could be modified. Depends on independent results. Now if they schew those results, then that's another topic that i don't know about.

Fuck it, when will they announce that just being human is a disorder?
