    You tell me

Edit - and Labour wins, feels bad for Farageee
Brexit Party brought Farage to the Peterborough count, where he hid in the candidates room, in shot of lens through the door, was briefly mobbed outside the gents by reporters, and then drove away early before declaration. Really bad handling

So looks like they got most of their votes from the conservatives and UKIP. Labour's that went down split over LD and Greens and couple to brexit

Looks like it'll be down to LD voters next election. If they stay LD then it's going to be close between BP and Labour again otherwise Labour will probably keep it.

This is why multiple parties without a clear and concrete distinction really sucks in FPTP. Why can't we just have Left vs Right vs Up vs Down. It'd be so much simpler.

Why can't we just ditch FPTP instead so that people can vote for someone they want and not for someone they may not want to keep out the one they really don't want.

Well we had the chance for something better in 2011(?), not perfect, but better, and it got voted down because people are fucking idiots.

    Pretty much this.

Can't wait for dribbles input on the Peterborough election.

So dribbles, what does it mean to your chances of sweeping to power when you can't win one of the most fervent Leave districts while still being a single issue party? Or are you going to explain how they actually won somehow because 3 > 4 in dribbles math?

Looks like Farage is still toxic to any election that isn't for the EU. Which is ironic to a degree that isn't measurable with conventional instruments!

Pfft, the only reason we've not laughed his trollish ass out of the forum because the EU implemented a silly 2 year timeframe onto the whole process. That means Dribs gets 2 years of shitposting unimpeded, because nobody can technically predict the future accurately enough to prove to him with the actual impact of future reality how braindead his whole shtick is. Like, painfully stupidly braindead. And as long as we say "Well, just wait and you'll see.." the longer he goes on with his trolling.

Pretty much. Our democracy is a bit (lol) fucked and there isn't actually a great deal of connect between why one votes the way one does (just being neutral, saying 'you' there made it seem personal) in the ballot box and what happens in Westminster (majority feeling that their vote is pointless in a safe seat for one party or voting tactially - who do I want to NOT win) and yet "muh sovereignty" was waved about like a flag by racist fucks trying to pretend they aren't racist fucks. Could see through it in the blink of an eye, would have been a bit more subtle if they'd claimed they were all AV voters feeling disenfranchised by the 2010 result... but none of them said that they just said "People in Europe shouldn't get to say what happens in the UK" like people in the UK have much say themselves.

Well, they did it once more. They managed to find someone else to blame...

A Brexit Party insider has blamed the party’s loss in the Peterborough by-election on Labour’s popularity among Pakistani voters.
    Bad Pakistani!

The irony is, them leaving the EU won't change anything about those bad Pakistanis.

Also funny, can Pakistani just vote like that? Don't they have to be British citizens to begin with? In which case, aren't they British instead of Pakistani? So many questions...

Very interesting split on the vote share, though a low turnout allows for margin of error.

Labour's vote share went down, the Conservatives share plummeted, in favour of mostly the BrP. LDs picked up both an increase of votes and vote share.

Most interestingly there were 1,198 votes split across candidates for parties and independents who didn't run in 2017, other than the BrP.

That's 3.5% of the total vote where the majority was just 683. UKIP alone was 400 votes, the Christian Peoples and English Democrats were another 300, the BrP lost votes to these also rans that would have seen them take the seat.

Amazed there's still UKIP voters at all in this day and age.

Yeah it's really interesting. Corbyn is clamouring for a general election (as always). Him and Labour may be more unpopular than ever before but if BrexitParty and Conservatives are splitting the rest of the vote like this everywhere then it really works to his favour. We could end up with Conservatives and Brexit having substantially over 50% of the vote between them, but Corbyn just walking in because the vote's so split in each region he takes all the seats.

I'm curious what Farrages next move is going to be. I can't stand him but he's not a total idiot, he's not going to just hand the election to Corbyn gift wrapped.

How's Brexit party "Far Right"? They only have the one policy and that's a much more complex issue than the usual left-right drama.
