State of game

Hi I’m a returning player and unterested in the state if the game after blizz reduced its supporting. Thanks for the answers

It's on life support. While they are still releasing patches, the rapid development of Heroes, maps and new features is just not here anymore. Major hots patches will be probably released along some other major releases(other games) just for the marketing purpose but that's speculation at this point.

The game is still as good as it was before. It is still being updated, so there is still something new to get once in a while.

But if you want to play HotS, you have to ask yourself how important new updates are for you. Would you play the game if the game stayed just as it is now? Are you satisfied with what you are being presented now?

If no, then i would say, that you other MOBAs are more worthy of your time. Dota2 and LoL have constant new updates and releases, which changes the player experience, but in my opinion, their gameplay is very different from HotS.

I personally play HotS becasue i like the gameplay over the other MOBAs. The gearless gameplay is enjoyable and i believe that it has the most fun character design of any MOBA. The updates is just a bonus for me, not the main reason to play it.

I loved hots because its faster Than lol and balanced in a way lol never could be. This is a different kind of moba Thats what made me play with it.

the good: the heroes are still great. the game is still the same when you can play it. still just a ton of fun.

the bad: the above fun will run out, like every game put into maintenance mode. on top of this, if you're a competitive player, look elsewhere. During its prime, HOTS even then struggled to have a decent ladder. The second you got into mid masters, you were facing massively long queues (10 minutes plus), and even when you did find a game, it would regularly throw you into meme games where several players were diamond.

So all this is to say, the game is dead. There are two avenues games compete with each other on - fun and competitiveness. If your game isn't fun, people may still play it just for the competitive side. If your game isn't competitive, people may play it if it is still very fun. HOTS has none of the latter and the former is drying up fast. Ask yourself why play HOTS when you can play something more fun, that is actually getting updates and likely has a competitive scene too?

Touching on something the posters above me didn't. The EU region is very much alive. I've played 427 ranked games this season (since late March), and the longest I've had to wait was 5-6 minutes when I was playing very early in the morning one day. Although I can't speak for the other regions and sub-regions.

Updates are slower than before, but the game is still chugging along. Our best hope is that it stays below the radar of upper management from now on. The current pace is infinitely better than no pace.

i played dota since 2003 for 7 years every week, i played lol for 5 weeks and had every hero in game from how much ip i farmed, hots is best moba game, but blizz f8cked it brutally, when the company itself doesn't know the game players they f8cked up hard
the game is fading, if u remember queue times before u left on break, check it now, even at most crowded time hots queue now is 5 min average, forget to queue in dead hours, the game is desert and will die very soon

They plan to keep it, it's not being as actively worked on as it was a year or two ago however it's still being more actively worked on than it has been for the majority of its existence.

Sadly they didn't lose interest in doing big changes prior to removing specialists >.>

The matchmaking is a complete shit show. I don't think I've ever experienced a game with
a worse system then Heroes of The Storm. Yes, it's even worse (by leaps and bounds) than
Overwatch's.

They attempted to try and improve it, but it was like applying a band aid to a severed limb.

They need to fix the matchmaking. Apart from that it's the most enjoyable Moba imo.

They can't fix the matchmaking, it'd cause que times to be ridiculously long, as shown the last time they tried to fix it. So while I agree that not having solo que, for example, is complete ass, it has sadly come to the point where you either live with it or move on to greener pastures.

Long queues in ANZ and very bad matchmaking. It's the same as it was the last year. While that's very clearly not good, it's no worse than it was so that's...something.

And here i thought the lack of good armor design..etc for WoW was because of more focus on hearthstone. Seems this game is also in a bad state. Makes you wonder what Blizz is up to. *not putting a great deal of focus on either game*

It all depends on players. If you and the others trust self-fulfilling prophecy, HotS will die. However, if you give it a try, which is free and not very time-consuming, HotS will thrive.

Main of HotS' pluses is that Blizzard has really good communication with players. AMA almost every month and they reply to normal reddit posts. Now they pretty much rework what players ask for. Of course, Blizzard always asks for patience with that because their team is small. Treat them as indie developers.

No in Europe 5 mins is max during desert hours.

I will mark your word...and expect a public statement admitting you were wrong when, after blizzcon, HotS is still around. I will likewise make the same sort of statement if you actually end up being right.
