So, what are your toughs here?

After seeing method post about their streaming, looks very clear they got pissed off because red bull tried to do the same thing they were thinking, and probably making then loss money.

Also, they said theres going to be chinese guilds there. Did they had to buy europe accs for then or blizz now making reset for china the same as europe?

Pretty glad I never have to worry about working with sponsors. And they dont need to since theres a ton of chinese guilds on illidan.

Scummy from Red Bull but thats what big companies do when they see $$.

Not sure about all the talk of 'handing over the world first race' tho. No one (except Blizzard) controls the race and Red Bull organising an event doesn't make them control the race in any way.
Its still whoever kills the boss first on the live servers and anyone can theoretically go and do it.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Redbul is the big leagues and WoW simply doesnt support any interest globally. Method have more or less a monopoly on organizing events in WoW only as the rest of the guilds are simply guilds and blizzard wont lift a finger for WoW as interest is minimal for viewers. Redbul wouldve probably tried to market as best as they can and perhaps organize a proper venue/arena as the have experience from other games, but it would be in vein as you dont pick up a nearly 15 year old game as esport just now and make it work.

The Chinese lock outs was only during MoP with 3 days and increased ilvl. They're now and have been for sometime on the same schedule and loot drops. However, the're reset is 1 day after EU iirc which isn't the end of the world.

If someone tuned in when Sco was talking about this yesterday in asmongolds stream, can anyone explain how exactly Red Bull as third party was going to be harmful to the event? I get that Sco is trying to paint the picture that Red Bull is somehow trying to take it over and possibly manipulate the way its played but on serious note thats never going to happen. Why would players ever suddenly try to play according to some arbituary rules made by Red Bull? It basicly looked like they wanted to make Red Bull First World Race but that's basically how sponsorship works. Not exactly sure what the harmful thing here is if the players are getting something out of it. The rumours were that Limit and Pieces are getting payed in someway from Red Bull especially now that Method didn't want any involvment.

This is why i asked. Method said that chinese guilds will be on germany for the race. How they will handle that 1 day after lockout?

Good job Method for not falling into the Redbull trap... or at least getting out of it before it closed

Avatar is, like, the single worst boss to bring up pull count because of how many immediate phase transitions there were during progression just to see/practice the downstairs.

In terms of recent raid tiers, Chinese and Taiwanese guilds have been very competitive. Just because we haven't seen them win a WFR yet doesn't mean they aren't at a level where they might in the future.

As for the whole Red Bull debacle, I can totally understand where Method is coming from. Insisting on their own streams etc. is absolutely crucial. Of course, I also understand Red Bull's position - they're a business, they're trying to maximize profit. Of course they'll try and roll them where they can, that's sort of standard fare in sponsorship deals. That they exploited the CoS thing to suddenly go for Pieces/Limit as the new hotness is less of a result of the actual race, I think, and more the result of them realizing that they can't hoodwink Method so easily. The second/third place guilds are much more hungry for the top spot, and thus are likely to be more willing to agree to exploitative sponsorship deals. Heck, they're probably happy to have gotten a deal like that at all, and never mind the details of it. Method is a company in its own right, obviously they're harder to pressure.

That being said, all this only works because of the audience. What Red Bull did might seem scummy, but it's what companies do as long as you let them (and as long as it's legal, of course). If you think they shouldn't be doing things like that, don't give them your business and your attention. But most people won't care. They'll still tune in, and still buy in. Which is fine. It's their decision. Just be aware that companies don't care about your umbrage unless it actually reflects in numbers in a big enough way.

But even so, other guilds werent even near that many. Theres also the language barrier. Sure you could have english casters, but they wont know what the guild is talking about.

Another thing that popped in to my mind about it, how is Method First World Race going to be any better option than Red Bull World First Race? Method didn't come up with the whole guilds working together on this event before they realized that Red Bull wanted to get in on it. No one is forgetting how much salt Method was throwing in Limits direction during BoD and now its supposed to all fun together?

    Pretty much this.

Method basically want to be in power when it comes to the world first race events, and to an extent they have the right to, because let's face it, those events were successful because of their efforts at playing the game.

What I don't really like too much is they are pretending this is about the greater good of the community and all that, while it's clearly about who should get the money. Then again, fanboys won't see through that and they are already at war with "big bad redbull".

It seems there will be 2 world first race events then, which is okay, diversity and competition is always good. Of course everyone will still mostly watch the one that Method is hosting because they will most probably win again, but the possibility of switching to the other stream whenever you want will be nice.

As a viewer, what I'm mostly interested in is who will be casting each of the races. The casting is like 70% of the enjoyment of watching those streams. I wonder how that will work with 2 events at the same time.

We’ll see. Im pretty sure red bull’s stream will have a huge viewer count. People watched method because they were the only one streaming.

I would expect it will depend a LOT of how the teams are doing. If Method is ahead they will have the views, if the Red Bull event has a guild that is a boss ahead then that will get the views.

It's the same for EU and the US, doesn't overly matter.

But they weren't the only ones. It's just they're the best and have had fanboys for a really long time now. I dont want to watch limiit because they're really annoying in discord.
