By Jove ! People ARE organizing caravans to go north of the border for healthcare !

    100% accurate thread, 100% sarcasm

Do you know the deepest irony ? Insulin synthesis was patented by Canadian doctors, who gave the patent for 1 $, for the benefit of mankind.

But I'm sure US doctors improved it enough to make it cost 300 $. (As FOX NEWS and Breitbart will tell you, in Canada, as we are socialists, we peddle clearly inferior insulin (it's not American and much cheaper) at 30 $, thus robbing insurance companies of the bread in their mouth).

    Caravans? Better build a wall.

When America sends it's people...they aren't sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

Depends on what you mean by "ready".

If you mean "able to provide for the needs of all our 'guests'"...no.

If you mean "we can jam them all into a single room that doesn't have the capacity to meet the demand"...absolutely.

Are people entering the country legally?

So like..are there more than the "approximately 20 people" on their way? 20 folks out of over 300 million seems lacking for the point being made.

Do you find it normal that a medecine, whose patent was (I will spell out slowly, cause it's a hard to understand concept) G-I-V-E-N for the common good, cost 30 dollars in Canada and 300 in the USA ?

I find that is part and parcel of the US government's (yes both sides) willingness to give the medical industry and pharmaceuticals in particular, a monopoly on drugs sold in the US. It's illegal to import any from outside the US to sell in the US. I've raged on this issue here before, no one cares, they all take about protecting the IP of the industry. I dont think its ok. But like i said before 20 folks is a bit lacky to make the claim that folks are flooding north, beside the drug sin mexico are cheaper in my experience. I guarantee you there are MORE going south for drugs than north.

They have a patent. If they didn't get the patent, they wouldn't have developed the drug.

We can argue over how long a patent should last. I think it's 10 years for drugs now.

Thats nice that have a patent and all. But most humans don't give a shit about that if they or someone the love is dying. And when you combine that with the ablity to just get a sample and then see what its made of it understandable why its so much cheaper outside the US. IP rights in the US are fucked up bonkers, not just in the medical industry, but they are just one of the reason why our medical systems cost more than the need too.

Crossing to apply for asylum is still legal and until that changes people are not entering the country legally.

Which is fine, we have many ports of entry along the border to facilitate those claims. Sneaking across or hiring people to sneak you across and claiming asylum after you are caught is trying to enter illegally.
Kara Swisher: What do you think about Cory Booker saying kick them in the shins?
Hillary Clinton: Well, that was Eric Holder.
Kara Swisher: Eric Holder, oh, Eric Holder, sorry.
Hillary Clinton: Yeah, I know they all look alike.

That's not how anything works, despite whatever headcanon you would like to see implemented.

If someone hires someone to sneak across the border and are not seeking asylum, they are entering illegally. If they get caught and claim asylum, they are just utilizing a loophole.

Last I heard, rapid acting insulins, like Humalog/Novolog are 90% cheaper across the border. Let that number sink in. I'd drive up too if I needed it.

Absolutely insane how out of control the cost of health care is.

So why are there deportations for illegal status?
