Should extra sauce on a pizza be considered a $$ topping?

Personally I love my pizza with extra sauce especially when it's one of my favorites, however some time back I ordered from Pizza Hut for the work place and they informed me they charged extra, normally I order from Domino's if I order chain, but co workers had a preference.

So it got me thinking is charging more for Pizza sauce normal.

Should Extra Sauce on a pizza be considered an extra $$ topping?

    Also as a follow up:

What are some of your off the typical menu toppings you like added to your Pizza?

Anything but a classic New York style slice or classic Italian is an abomination. That pizza hurts my soul.

Its almost like their running a business.

Sauce costs money. Why should they give it to you for free?

Also you're hardly in a position to complain about pizza toppings when you order from Domino's. The box tastes better than the pizza it contains.

Sauce is a staple, I could kind if were like extra sauce packs at a restaurant, but sauce just seems like one of those things that goes with the pizza already. I am also not going to fight for Domino's however over Pizza Hut if it comes to chain pizza I would.

Extra sauce on pizza should be considered a sin.

Wrong. Extra Sauce is a tribute, it's the extra cheese you gotta worry about.

Then don't call it pizza if that's how you feel.

When it comes to Pizza Hut, I used to get extra sauce, but now I get normal sauce and light cheese.

Anything extra should cost more, especially pizza sauce since getting extra is a travesty and anyone who does it should be punished.

If its extra it should cost more. It certainly costs the pizza place more.

I'm pretty boring with my toppings, basically I want the pizza loaded with sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.

Yeah because the topping cost some amount of $ and the store need to make profit.

For pizza the toppings I like the most I think is meat lover, Pepperoni, Bacon, Sausage, Ground Beef, Grilled Chicken, any 3 topping will make my day, I don't like Hawaii topping, I like pineapple but pinapple on pizza with cheese/ham doesn't seem right to me...

You've clearly never had true Napolitano pizza.
There's barely any sauce to cover the whole dough, and that's how it should be.

If you mean Neapolitan pizza, those have plenty of sauce actually.

Browsing pizza threads make me think we should qualify them as religious discussion.

Legend has it that Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita visited Naples in 1889. There, Esposito was asked to make them a pizza. He topped the pizza with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil. That pizza is still known as Pizza Margherita today.
    Typical ingredients: Mozzarella; Tomato sauce

The version I've read also stated that previously tomato wasn't used on pizzas and the tomato-mozzarella-basil combination was just a way to display Italian colours.
