He has no choice but to grind dungeons, he said it multiple times he does not find farming dungeons fun at all but it's something that he has no say in. The moment he steps outside the dungeon to try to do literally anything, a swarm of Horde comes to try to gank him, just look at what happened when he tried to get Whirlwind Axe, even 200 Alliance wasn't enough to protect him for a single quest. And this isn't unique to Asmon, but to all big streamers which is why most of them are only ever doing dungeons, besides farming dungeons with a group is the most efficient way of leveling besides being a mage and aoe farming mobs in the world, and they're all going for efficiency.

I wouldn’t say tragic. He’s just not very good at the game. Never has been(but frankly more than a few classic streamers are terrible at the game). I’ve never understood his appeal. His attitude sucks. And any time you point that out, someone inevitably tells you how it’s just a persona. Which I don’t buy, based on everything I’ve heard about the guy.

I never had a problem with asmongold. My guild on kt always beat his to realmed first in legion and wod. And we loved feeding off his rage. I never had a problem until yesterday when he states "you know what? Id be damned if I'm going to level in classic without some fun. Pst for invites for world pvp". Then he gets 40 people in hillsbrad to secretly escort him to sm gy. Then says "I'm gonna take a break from pvp and do this dungeon". Mind you this was 10mins after he had tons of people fly to hillsbrad for an event.

Later that day, he got 120 people+ to world pvp in barrens. He leaves group as he gets there to start his warrior berserker stance quest and get protection.

He scumbagged entire fanbase and used them for his own personal gain twice yesterday. It's worse in classic when u walk miles to join an event.

Disclosure: I'm not even alliance, I just feel for any of his fans who actually realise they are being used. Any1 who doesn't think they were used yesterday is in denial.

I am going to give a thoughtful defense of Asmongold, as someone who never watched a second of his videos until four months ago, has played horde his entire WoW career, and who has even bought a store mount.

I have watched Asmon's stream for about four months now. I will often have it on my second monitor while I write, or play WoW, or anything where I'd normally be looking for random videos to watch I just started being suggested his videos more on youtube until one day I decided to check the source. At the time I hadn't played WoW since last September, BFA just did not appeal to me at all so I had decided to take a hiatus from the game. I found him pretty funny though, although he is a bit of a jerk at times but the more videos I watched the more I noticed how involved he got his viewers, and how even though he is one of the most successful streamers out there he lives at home to take care of his sick mom. Reminded me of me many years ago when my mom was still alive and sick, so I respected that.

I don't agree with him on everything, but the things in this topic are missing the point. He has been having a blast with the game and he likes to joke around about everything being horrible when really even at times when he doesn't like something he'll talk about how hyped that this is all legitimate and he is glad the day has arrived. Dude has been super happy for four straight days with sprinkles of frustration, which is reasonable as Vanilla is pretty tough.

I would not be playing WoW without Asmongold. His love of the game, even as he critiqued it, was what led me to other youtube videos that got me excited about the lore again and invested in returning. I now have a level 29 night elf hunter, far away from any streamer server, that I am enjoying the hell out of for sure.

Asmon's not tragic, he is having fun and is successful, he takes care of the people that need it in his life. I respect him, and gladly listen to his rants as I toil away at my computer.

This sounds like the intelligence level of streamers then -- too stupid to know what a PvE server is.

Either way he's still completely unwatchable. Seriously, what kind of asshole decides to be an asshole as their stream persona?

Like, the fact that his one thing is pretty much that he's a total dick and he's wildly popular is really worrying.

When I see shit like this and people talking about world first (lmao) it reminds me why I hate the WoW playerbase.

People who play Blizzard games can't seem to find it in them to just enjoy something. They metagame it, minmax it and suck the life and fun out of every aspect for the sake of competition.
It's going to be a rude awakening when these people get to 60 and realize that Classic, especially with so little released, really doesn't even have a true endgame. There's a very narrow, shallow and slow endgame progression and if you mad dash to it immediately you will run out of stuff to do, and fast.

I believe he had other raid leaders coordinating stuff for the game while he got his stuff done. It looked like people still had a whole bunch of fun.

But yeah anyone who joins his guild I think knows the point is he is the star of the show.

Lol so many salty people in the thread.

What's more tragic than he is, even thought there's nothing tragic about enjoying yourself doing something (while not harming others of course), is people hating on some random dude playing WoW.

Seriously, why are you people so angry about it? Is it because he's making money doing what he loves while you get to go do some boring ass work? Is it because he gets free shit and you don't 'cause you're just a nobody playing WoW? Is it because you can't handle a bit of a controversial personality?

What is tragic is the horde of haters spamming threads about how much they can't stand him.
Man often meets his destiny, on the path he takes to avoid it.

Oh when I saw the title I thought this was going to be about his life, you know....until he was 25 he lived in a room with roaches and garbage everywhere, he's not even 30 and losing his hair, he looks like he should be looking for a ring and following hobbits around, he has a gf who's way out of his league that's obv with him for clout and money and he doesn't see it which is sad.

Is that why you posted several screenshots of Jokerd hitting 60 on the "race to world first level 60 IN CLASSIC (NOT VANILLA)" thread?

    OT:
Watching his stream he seems like he's enjoying himself. Speaks positive about the game, too.

If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have the faintest idea who Asmongold was but people keep mentioning him everyday here.

He's an annoying manchild honestly. I've hated him ever since I first heard him utter "it's ya boy Asmongold" which is one of the most cringy statements I've heard.

This is in place for legal liability reasons. If something bad should happen, we want to know what the employee was doing that was more important than their job.

The best PSA I can give though is, stick to personal browsing on your phones at work, as long as you don't have an MDM solution installed.
Pathetic claims from a most likely non it person. Most "best places to work" are fine with you having stuff on a second screeen if your work is on the first. The reason for this is quite simple you are more likely to stay late working and be more efficient if you are getting your treats same reason places like google have game rooms and sleeping accommodations they don't want you leaving the campus.

If that was true, people would log off as soon as they hit 60.

The game is a series of challenges.
The game is beating those challenges.

Some like to focus on beating the challenge of getting to Level 60.
But if that is your single focus, you are going to miss much of the game.
reaching max level is the literal point in WoW, once at 60 you have access to all the content and if you want to raid you can go for that also.

There is no challenge in WoW and just because it takes longer leveling is no challenge at all even in classic, the main reason to quit before 60 is its boring and you have already done all that content anyway at some point. Even clearing all the raid content will provide no challenge and you will be swimming in the best gear.

the first time around it was fun because you had not done it before, leveling is a small portion of the game and its very tedious at this point considering you have done it many times over with the same quests every expansion. Just because you need to eat/drink every other mob doesnt make it more of a challenge.
