What's your favorite Pizza Style?

A proper Chicago style pizza isn't more crust, it's more toppings. The crust should be thin'ish, and wrap up the sides of the pan like a pie crust would. Then the middle is loaded with toppings (again, like a pie) with the sauce on top so the bread doesn't get soggy.

Edit: This is also the only correct answer to this question. All other pizza is inferior pizza.

Ohh, it's no fault of yours. So many pizza places are marketing very thick dough as Deep Dish pizza, and they're doing it wrong. Chicago Style deep dish pizza is like a pizza pie, not a sheet pizza.

Pizza dough isn't a pastry. Thus in my book it wouldn't be a pie. Pizza dough is more of a bread dough than a pastry dough. In other words, Pizza is toast and a Calsone is a sandwich.

The only real difference between a pastry dough and a pizza dough are your ratios. You have your nuances, no one in their right mind would use anything but olive oil in their pizza dough as their fat...but you could sub any shortening if you wanted. The ratios you use for a pizza are the same that you'd use for most meat pies/turnovers...calzones. Also strombolis are the sandwiches of the pizza, calzones are turnovers.

Im from Chicago so my opinion is biased but

Lou Malnati's deep dish all time favorite. Go to for delivery is Villa Palermo pan pizza. Ingredients pepperoni, onions, olives.
