They wear leather and not mail, their attacks are shadow and death based, and share none of the affinity for beasts/nature that hunters have...

Ranger is a class.

Dark Ranger is a Ranger of a specific race. You can’t be a Human Dark Ranger for example. That would be like being a Human Orc Warrior. You have to be forsaken to be a Dark Ranger.

Only Forsaken can be Dark Rangers. The class is Ranger.

seeing how the LK have now burning eyes, and prob a fire power, this is not out of the table, hell and hellfire are something common in the Death knight archetype from other Rpgs, wow a far we know do not have hell like Baator by example, but its nto something so absurd, shadowflame still is a thing too.

Death Knights would get it. Solve the whole wanting a range spec for death knights some discuss. Transforms them into a lich who doesn't use frost spells but fire spells. New spec would be called Fire lich.
