In this case, they are quoting him, unfortunately.

No no, I know it's a quote. I was just speculating on WHY they would have quoted that particularly ridiculous line.

Ah, well, I wouldn't be surprised if that account was run by one of his equally idiotic children. My guess is Ivanka who probably wrote his speech who thought that line was just brilliant.

    Not Trump, but related.

Mark Sanford, the former Republican Governor of South Carolina who disappeared without notice leaving his spokeperson to say he was hiking the Appalachian Trail when he was really banging his Argentinian mistress in another country, kicked off his primary challenge against Trump in Philadelphia today.

We know this because Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Anna Orso was there to cover this. Alone.

    "What do you mean alone?!"

I mean she was literally the only reporter who showed up to cover this, and there weren't too many people who weren't working for or related to Mark Sanford in attendance. But he did have a curious group of students from Paris stop by...not because of him, but because they were curious about the giant check he had with him.

Good ideas or not, America just isn't ready for some of these ideas. I think many here overestimate the popularity of people like Sanders in the rust belt and other areas the Dems need to win.

I think the Dems drop the ball again. The GOP has also done a great job weaponizing the Squad to further tarnish the Dems.
Remember that last election (2018) he got trounced.

They had ads for white nationalists? Was it for Trump?

"Scandal ridden Biden" "forever tarnished" "great job weaponizing the Squad to further tarnish the Dems" frankly sounds like a bunch of right wing talking points, maybe believed by people already predisposed to vote for Trump.

    Seriously.
Oh I suspect much more nefarious intent here. This isn't a belief that the US existed in the time of Ancient Rome, this is simply stating that America is fundamentally northern European, and thus had a relationship with the Roman Empire/Republic. In other words, ethno-nationalist crap.

But like...Rome is in the middle of Italy and closer to the southern Italian region...the "darker" Italians that weren't included with their northern, more WASPy (well, minus the Protestant) brethren.

It makes sense if you think about it from the white supremacist angle that's historically ignorant with their, "WE ARE THE DESCENDANTS OF THE GREAT VIKING/ROMAN CONQUERORS WHO WERE PURE WHITE PEOPLE!" despite that being literally not remotely accurate. Did Stephen Miller write that speech?

Not that I underestimate their capacity for malicious--as well as fundamentally racist--stupidity, but gonna have to go with straight stupidity here.

ETA: "Is he maliciously dog-whistling white supremacists or just being incredibly stupid?" Speculation in the age of Trump.

Not saying we are Roman, just had a shared cultural and political heritage, which Northern European governments certainly did.

It's like last night when Sanders said "70% of Democrats favor M4A." Like what a useless statement...it doesn't say anything about the country as a whole. And yes...even in 2020...a lot of America is going to have a problem voting for a woman...or a gay man...or someone with socialistic policies (even if you and I think they might be good ideas). And yes, the GOP's rhetoric WILL work on independents because contrary to what you may think, they can be just as gullible or foolish as anyone else.
"Socialistic," now--interesting. What I'm saying is that your "concerns" sound an awful lot like Republican talking points, which is to say like disingenuous nonsense.

Trump posted a picture of Pelosi scolding him on his Twitter feed, trying to redirect the narrative to mean it was HER having the meltdown.

Pelosi, on the other hand, made the same picture the banner of her Twitter profile, because whether you like her or hate her, she is a fucking boss.
