I do find it weird that people were complaining about being starved for turn based rpgs that bravley default and octopath filled because they made ff action and frankly bad, but dq has always been there. I dont think dq needs to change either.

That last map of BL in FE on Maddening is cancerous. Siege tome mages as ambush spawns is cheap, at best, in a map where the boss was already pelting your units twice per turn from 30+ range.
The western market has always been more into action/adventure and fps based games and less into turn based games.
Since the 80’s, maybe even before, Japan has withheld games from the Western market as they’ve either had little interest from previous sales or were deemed too difficult for western players. Just look at FF2 & 3 as well as the real Super MARIO 2. There’s also been plenty of other NES and SNES games that have never reached our market. I wish this wouldn’t happen because most of the games turn out to be great, but then again, I’m probably one of those niche players that enjoys things like Dragon Quest and traditional turn based RPGs. I dislike the direction Final Fantasy has gone with the action RPG mecalhanics.
People seem to want to make this excuse for DQ all the time but lets be honest. Persona, Octopath and Fire Emblem all thrashed it in western sales and all are turn based.
The reason DQ isn't popular in the west has nothing to do with this, in fact if they went straight action and otherwise kept DQ the same it would probably actually sell less in the west because they would alienate the few fans they have. The reason DQ isn't appealing in the west is it has a corny tropey story and it's marketed in a corny and tropey way. Granted I don't find anything wrong with this, but it's not appealing to the west like the edge lord cast, school setting and other flashy things popular JRPGs have going on.

That feeling when you don't want to lose a boss battle because trying again would mean another 100 squats...
When the DLC hits before the last mission.
One sidequest left in DQXI and its a fucking casino roullette jackpot thing. Checked online and you are meant to get a hint now and the from a bunnygirl she refuses to give and i've heard people say this took them 30 hours to get.
I could probably go kill the big bad and finish the game already but as a ocd completionist i can't just let it sit unfinished.
Another great switch exclusive: https://opencritic.com/game/8013/luigis-mansion-3

Steelbook for a DIGITAL GAME!!!!!!!!!
Speed run for just main story is sub 1 hour. https://www.speedrun.com/smo In all seriousness it's pretty hard to not spend 10-15 hours with SMO on a first run, if you don't then you didn't explore anything and then what is even the point of playing a 3D Mario game.
Either way, and I'm sure you agree I dunno why hours played keeps getting brought up as a barometer of quality or if a game is worth X money. Would gamers these days really rather pay $60 for 50 meh hours then 15 amazing ones? If so count me out of that weak ass culture.
