Every single expansion has been announced at a Blizzcon. Furthermore, every second Blizzcon has had an expansion announcement, and every expansion has launched 9-12 months after its initial Blizzcon announcement.

So let's assume for a moment that they don't announce 9.0 this year -- this would, of course, mean that they'll be announcing it next year. Assuming that 8.3 drops before Blizzcon (which is very possible), that would mean almost 2 years of Ny'alotha. If you'd spent any length of time thinking about this, you'd have known it to be a ridiculous scenario.

Afaik ICC wasn't out before Cata was announced, and the same was true for Dragonsoul and MoP.

It just didn’t happen for WoD or Legion. Didn’t bother to check if it happened for TBC.
It also happened for BfA, the final raid (Argus) wasn't out until after Blizzcon so we didn't know how Legion ended.

I totally forgot about that, thanks! Itss a bit of an anomaly though, since I think Blizz was so desperate to rush Legion out the door, to get people hyped up again after the disaster that was WoD.

Yeah, and not just over the Hong Kong thing either. Last year's Blizzcon was a pretty big letdown, especially for Diablo fans. So at the very least, they'll need to somehow regain the trust of Diablo fans. A D4 announcement (that's not a mobile release) with some details and gameplay clips would be a good start.

Yeah, a lot of Blizzard stuff gets announced at Gamescom first. iirc, Diablo 3 was. And various other WoW expansions.

That's the exact reason honestly, they needed something to draw people back in because 6.2 had already been dragging on.

So what if some idiots are gonna show up and spew their political agenda at a gaming convention, that isn't gonna make Blizzard cancel Blizzcon.

The protesters aren't doing shit for Hong Kong by protesting at Blizzcon, its really just slacktivism at its finest.

Unless they are ready to reimburse all attendees for travel expenses... cancelling it would be A LOT worse for them lol. not a chance its cancelled.

Not to mention someone would have caught wind by now, vendors would be starting to be canceled, they may be starting to back out of the convention center, etc. It's less than 2 weeks away (13 days to be exact), they haven't stopped VT sales, they haven't given people time to try to cancel flights and hotels.

Honestly in terms of Blizzard fans, cancelling Blizzcon would piss more people off than the whole Hong Kong bullshit.

if they anounce that they figured time traveling and they are going back to stop WOD from happening i would be less surprised than if they didnt anounce expansion

No but the backlash if they didn't would easily dwarf the backlash they've gotten over the Hearthstone drama.

someone in congress want to make some political credit by this meaningless shit

Oh the money that would cost them, they would have to pay back the VT and Blizzcon tickets but still pay all the venue and vendor costs. Contracts are a thing there is no way you can cancel less than 2 weeks from an event for the Anaheim Convention Center.

No, it wouldn't. Blizzard has millions of players. Only a select few go to Blizzcon, and it's the most devoted fanboys. If you still support Blizzard after they have shown open support for China, you will continue to support them and blame the cancellation of Blizzcon on those Hong Kong protesters, so that you can continue to suck Blizzard's smegma-covered dick.

I hope Blizzard show big announcements aside from a new expansion. Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, whatever...

Something big enough to move on with the Hong Kong circus.

    I'm pretty tired of it.

exactly which would make things A LOT worse for blizzard as i said. I'd guess the bulk of blizzard's community is over the HK thing so if they cancel for a few loudmouths, they would piss of 30-35k of their most dedicated players who have spent 100's if not 1000's on this trip already. so yeah there is zero chance they cancel con over HK, they likely will increase security, and pre-screen questions to panels with someone there ready to yank the mic.

A lot of people are tired of it, apparently you're not allowed to punish for breaching contract anymore and no one listens to the guy it actually happened too >.>. Bring on Blizzcon, going to be huge this year.
