I don’t think wotlk 2 will be next expansion

I stopped playing wow ages ago, but I would sub for wotlk 2.0 since I have a soft spot for the lich king lore etcetc, but looking at the leaks it all adds up that it will be some kind of “nzoth vision” we will enter alternative vision of the lich king through the portal in 8.3. If you do is as a DK you will get special reward. Thoughts? Can someone debunk this and convert me to the wotlk 2 hype train!?

There have been several leaks that support the theory of a Death/Scourge themed expansion. I don't think I've seen a single leak that mentioned an "alternate vision of the Lich King". However, most posts from somewhat credible sources seem to be leaning pretty heavily towards a dragon-themed expansion, with Shadowlands and Death essentially being a B plot.

There won't be any "visions", we finish off N'zoth in 8.3.

It will most likely be themed around lich king. Blizzard has been leaving hints to the next expansion in last patches for long time. In 7.3 files there was Kul Tiras Sea Priest armor. Patch 3.2 had worgen and goblin halloween masks datamined. Patch 5.4 had a textrure called Iron Horde. 8.3 has datamined allied races npc textures as death knights. It's a clear hint of what to expect.

While WotLK is one of my least favorite expansions (hey I know that's controversial) I'm honestly surprised they haven't gone back for a WotLK 2.0 expansion yet. Kinda seems like a nobrainer considering how popular it was and how much buzz it would create around the community.

This. Also according to the "leakers," we're getting a Heart of Azeroth 2.0, this time centered around the dragon flights. If that's the case, I think I'm probably done.

Artifact system will never be gone. It's something players want. Players want some long term progression for characters. Only thing that will change is how it's implemented. Curious what changes they bring this time.

I agree OP. I don’t think the next expansion will have anything to do with death or darkness. In fact, I think we’re going to get a MoP-like expansion next. If you look at expansions since MoP, you start to see a pattern of primary theme and sub theme. Primary theme is what’s occurring in the present expansion, and sub theme is what will happen in the next expansion.

Yes, it's a clear hint towards allied races and pandas being able to be dk's. Tells us nothing about the next expack.

It was whined about even during then, but they won't admit it. Unless you already hate wow all the time. It defeated WoD to be sure but I don't guage product success if MMO-Champion likes it or not.

It is, probably one of the more popular expansions. Blizzard dropped the ball with legendaries and AP grinding early in Legion, but it turned out to be pretty solid.

Have friends who stayed subbed since... forever. Legion was the one they say they would have regretted missing. I ducked out in v late panda and wasn't back until classic.
