Higher % of society with education = more people with diploma in the job market = your degree becomes trash = lower salary or no job at all for you because its even easier to replace you with people willing to work for less

Also I believe every child in US already has access to free public school so throwing more money wouldn't help at all. Time to get real.

Idk, this is close to "Magic Dirt" thinking. Can Schools actually make a good student? In my experience you are radically overestimating what teachers and schools can necessarily do.

Schools are indeed one of the most important factors in making good students.
The power of schools is more and more limited lately but it still very important. Friends are also a deciding factor.
Top one is of course the parents. It is the ultimate responsibility and deciding factor, just not the only one.

Compare the baseline educational level to basically any nation without a public education system.

That's your baseline for "what teachers and schools can do".

It's only disadvantageous because it requires all schools to be brought to equal levels. Much like Texas was required to do for city districts like HISD, because corporations are held to different property tax requirements than the common person, so instead of the city bringing in tons more money than the suburbs, you had horribly underfunded schools in the city. It wasn't until Texas started distributing tax revenue outside if the districts that things sorta improved.

You're damn right it's a political matter, Republicans are pushing against real reforms and Democrats are pushing to reform education.

You should want society to improve and schools do that. But, I do think people that shit out two dozen kids should pay a hire burdon when it comes to school taxes. Sure, we all benefit from educated kids. But it sucks that I have to carry these people that have more kids than they can afford to feed.

They are reforming via things like common core.. that isn't making the situation better. I'm not convinced it is a funding problem but rather a lacking curriculum

If saving like $200 a year on your property taxes is worth having the area you live in devolve into a crime infested shithole, then by all means, vote against funding the schools.
There's shitty underfunded schools, and then there's highschools that have sports facilities that would make some colleges jealous. That's the kind of thing that pisses folks off.

Good schools lower crime, benefit society, increase property values, etc...There’s no con to having better schools.

If you’re so concerned about paying more for schools and it hurting your savings plan for your quad sli 2080ti build maybe you should improve yourself and make yourself more valuable and make more income?

My guess is OP thought he post and get some supporting opinions, lol

Just because a school has nice sporting facilities doesn't mean they paid for it.

When I was in high school, a brand new football stadium was built (no idea on the cost, it wasn't state of the art or overtly huge or anything; just brand new) while simultaneously hundreds of students had their classes outside the building in trailers because there wasn't enough room for them inside and they had no money to expand.

One might be outraged that they were seemingly buying a new stadium in such a circumstance, until you actually looked into it and saw that the school didn't pay shit for the stadium; donations from local businesses and the school's alumni association independently funded the stadium because 'muh football'... While at the same time, election after election, levies on the ballot to build new school buildings and such failed to pass.

I think a bad teacher can turn a potentially above average student into a far below average student... The right amount of lack of motivation can do a lot

You should care that the rest of your citizens are educated to the best extent possible. The more educated a populace is, the better they are to live with.
Here in Colorado, we have legalized recreational pot. The tax money from it is supposed to go towards education. I don't think they are spending the money wisely. I am all for spending tax money on education if we know how it is spent. I can understand being skeptical.

Congratulations, you're thinking like a rich anti-socialist. The reason you want to pay taxes is because at some point those children grow up to be people that you interact with, and think about how stupid the average person is and realize that 50% of people are dumber than that. What you want to do is get the Federal government to pay for more than 10% of funding, so the local property taxes don't go sky high and so that maybe students don't have books that still say that Pluto is a planet. Before you say where we're going to get the money from, just realize that 60 corporations paid $0 in taxes in 2018 and also got paid by the government in billions.
