Best soloing class - who would you pick?

My money would be on either a tanking class/spec OR pet class (hunter, lock.)

both can tank and seem to be great at soloing. agreed.

A class NOT good at soloing... mage. or at least it seems like it to me

If you have to solo OLD content (like.... Pandaria bag achi... or wod saber rep...) Boomie druid without any doubt.

If you have to solo relevantly "hard" content- ret/dk/dh/feral/bear.

BM Hunter with one of the clefthooves or corehounds. yeah. 100%.

I saw a prot paladin soloing some BFA raid bosses, and mythic dungeons, like mechagon. And it looked very easy. Haven't seen other classed do it, I think. So pala gets my vote.

gotta say my BM hunter can solo an amazing array of content even when it was undergeared and I am far from an expert at the class. the combination of an easily healed pet tank, strong DPS, some nice defensive/heal abilities and feign death for when you do run into trouble is impressive
throw in engineering for all the teleports to get around the world(s) easily (pet battle dungeon teleports make this even better) and you have all the farmable content at your fingertips

Paladin. Can basically do anything and lots of survival skills.

Brewmaster is unkillable from one shots yes, but has piss all self sustain.
Windwalker has high DPS, but no real self healing unless you abuse low HP adds and get healing orbs from the passive.
Mistweaver is very strong healing, but also mana hungry.

We can't choose a class for you, but BM Hunters are always a very good solo play choice. As an added bonus, you also get a "pet collection" meta gamemode that other classes don't have. There's quite a lot of unique content there, so very good for solo players.

Well geared Paladins are nearly invincible in any spec.

DKs are really hard to take down too, and (imo) more fun than Paladin

Bear druids are nigh unkillable and have unparalleled utility.

But yeah, DKs, DHs, BM Hunters are pretty standard “own the game” classes.

Affliction warlocks are vastly under appreciated as a soloing class as well.

Balanced. Just like the monk philosophy.

Paladin. Whether you play ret or prot, you have lots of self heals which are always helpful.

edit: I can solo heroic Nighthold on my hunter but not mythic. Haven't bothered to try and solo Antorus yet, will wait til Shadowlands

BM hunter. Some raid bosses have mechanics that cc you and remove you from combat permanently unless something kills whatever is cc-ing you.

You can target and kill those yourself btw even while gripped. It was required back in the days when it was relevant for everybody to chip in to getting folks out of them ASAP.
The only boss with some mechanic as you described would be if you were soloing Wind Lord at level 100 and couldn’t burn it down before your got cc’d. And maybe Amber Shaper I guess but psure the encounter would reset. Been a long time since I soloed that place and not vastly overgeared and outleveled it. Just remember Wind Lord needing Absolute Corruption while pet beat the boss down while I was CC’d the entire time.


My pick would be BM Hunter, Blood DK or even Affliction Warlock though they’ve lost their ruggedness over the years but still decent and compared to Hunters take much too long sometimes. The worse class I’ve tried to solo things with was Mage and Rogue.

I would take druid or BM hunter for strictly solo simply because of their mobility. I like to be moving faast af through old content.

Pally/DK if I don't care about moving fast and am half afk the entire time.

Dk and Paladin for me. Followed by Hunter and Warrior. Those are my go to for soloing
