Nah, we don't have a military worship culture...

    ...

    And it's better like that.

Nah that's ridiculous, you realize that the vast majority of veterans have never killed or harmed any women and children.

No you're obviously painting them with too broad of a brush. The vast majority of those veterans and helicopters that you mentioned have never hurt a civilian and can't be blamed for such.

That's not a realistic option for the West because China and Russia would take over as the world's military superpowers.

American veterans day? Since WWII, none of them deserve respect for what they did. Helping an imperial power stay in power is hardly a good thing. Feel pity for those who got drafted, but I have a lot more respect for draft dodgers.

Oh look hammer and sickle. Not surprised by your comment at all. Also lol at the irony in your comment considering Stalin was allowed to stay in power well after the war even though he had more people killed than Hitler.

Best way to respect them is to remember the sacrifices they made and/or give them a discount. Lowes gives all veterans a 10% discount on all non sale purchases. 5% on items on sale or clearance. Our local dentist will be giving a 20% discount for the whole month of November to veterans. JoAnn fabric stores, give veterans a 15% discount all year long.

Anyway, thanks to the veterans here for your service to your country.

Well, if we need to split hairs, i'd argue the best way to honor the people sacrificing their lives would be to cover their medical expenses instead of hoping for private charity. That would show that you (as the population, not individuals) would really care, instead of "thoughts and prayers"

Well, for me November 11th will always be the start of carnival.

Likewise. Thanks for the positive words, and thanks back to you as well.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.

to give all others a not so subtle hint about the issue:
the quote "Soldaten sind Mörder" (soldiers are murderers) is not punishable in germany. and the armed forces know very well, why.
