How do we abbreviate Shadowlands!?

SL will be how it’s abbreviated via typing. I imagine people will just say “shadowlands” when spoken.
The only reason people need DaS/DeS is because “DS” isn’t viable.

SL is viable.

I don't like initialisms that clash with already existing others, no matter how old or unused. SL was already used for soul link and Shadow Labyrinth, so I hope the community will come up with something else.
(I also strongly dislike how DM is Deadmines and Dire Maul i.e.)

If not ShL, I would put my money on Shad or Shadow. One-word expansions have always been referred to with part/whole name (Legion -> Legion, Cataclysm -> Cata)

In text I use SL, in speech I just say Shadowlands. Do people ever use the abbreviation of the other expacs in spoken word? That's just silly. Abbreviations are nice in text, to shorten things, but why would you ever use them in speech? Wait, I know, the same people who actually say 'lol' and 'brb' out loud *shakes head*

My job employs tons of acronyms and every day i look at these bozos like, "just say the whole fucking phrase, you're only inconveniencing the listener/reader." Reading these (or any boards) filled with acronyms and i have to pull out a guide to the internet to communicate with you baboons. It's payback time!

Sometimes we do regular abbreviations: TBC, MoP, WotLK... sometimes we just shorten it: Cata, Wrath... Sometimes we leave the word as is: Legion.

The magic seems to be in something 3-6 letters wrong.

I'm not suggesting that going with a Syllabic method is what we should do for EVERY expac, it's just something that would work for THIS expansion.

Because Legion is a lot shorter to both write and say than Shadowlands. (6 letters/2 syllables v 11 letters/3 syllables)

Let's be honest, people on the internet are lazy, so it will get shortened, at least in writing.

Every class above 6 letters gets shortened too, so stands to reason that the expansion will as well

It's not at all when you consider in the context of an expansion people will write something like "WoW: SL". People also shorted TBC to simply "BC". So it's definitely not "too short" at all.
