Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.
EA and Blizzard already have really bad reputation and shitty practices, not enough content, artificial scarcity, loot boxes, etc.
CD Projekt has delivered good products with lots of content. You can check Path of Exile for a similar example.
It's not about mtx vs no mtx. It's the sum of all company's practices and there are different ways of doing mtx as well.
Do we even know if the MP will cost money?
What if it's F2P?
I don't get it - it's not like CD Projekt didn't offer MTX before.
If Cyberpunk 77 multiplayer is something like GTA Online, take my wallet CDPR. As long as it's buying cars or some shit, not loot boxes.
Of course best system for that kind of game (I assume they would support it and add content) is monthly sub without any microtransactions, but sadly most close to this model on current market is... WoW (yes, even with current shop).

Well yet another game i won't be playing. That really sucks. I wanted to play that.
With so little information theres literally nothin to discuss tbh. Could just be some lil cosmetics not to mentions its only for mp.

I agree with you. I would rather have a company support the game by a sub than by micro. I don't mean: sub+micro; I just mean sub only. I just think that a game that is basing its whole pay model on cosmetic micro items will struggle to make enough $$ to provide enough good content.
Didn't know this game will have multiplayer.
Is this something that most people even care about?
Don't care for Multiplayer. GTA5 and RDR2 did the same, but I don't play that either...
Won't stop me getting a new high-end gaming rig just for it next year for the SP experience [alongside Steam's VR Index, for Half-Life: Alyx]!
A sub would be way too risky if they actually have to invest heavily into the development. The acceptance for subs is rather low in general and once they charge that people would essentially expect the MP to be a full in MMO. While the idea probably has some potential, especially if they could reuse their SP world, I very much doubt they can just reskin their game easily to work for something like that, even if they do the GTA-O thing and limit the players per map heavily.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.
I predict this announcement will not hurt sales at all. Almost all games have this now, it is a fact of life. It's like cable. When it first came out- no commercials (because you were basically paying a sub). Now: commercials everywhere + sub + money for extras.

I thought it odd too. MP doesn't really seem to fit the game, not sure how popular that mode will be even. Do we really need an MP option in every single player game?
It's funny how people often say that people are outraged, there'll be a backlash, etc - yet those people who actually care about MTX are a (quite vocal) minority. Most people don't care.
Hi
I accept microtransactions (for cosmetics) or monthly sub for games that have steady support. One time pay fits only singleplayer games, where patches are for fixing stuff, not adding new content. One thing I can't accept are casino stuff.
I have no problem with Diablo 4 having cosmetic stuff to buy as long support will be better than Diablo 3 (which wasn't that bad considering D3 had only box price + one expac + paid class).
And I think people were rather mad that Anthem was, you know, shitty.
The backlash from me is that i will buy tomorrow this game on GOG: without DRM, single player without Microtransactions and i never cared about multiplayer. But if they do it right, it might be the first time i actually buy anything regarding microtransactions. But i hope they will rather have macrotransaction, good stuff, good price.
If done right it isn't that big of a deal. Look at Mass Effect 3. They had microtransactions but it wasn't a big deal and didn't really impact gameplay. Earning stuff in-game was only slower because you didn't have the instant gratification of getting a box right away. It was still all random though. If done in a manner like that then it doesn't matter if people can buy something while I just play.

You know a community is bad when moderators lock a thread because "...this isnt the place to talk about it either seeing as it will get trolled..."
Watch CD project Red get a pass on it because gamers largely don't really care about the health of the industry. And witcher 3 had a good story so free pass because their company name doesn't start with EA or activision
